Sitting demurely, legs folded with her back to the viewer, an oil painting by Yoshii Kosaburo dated 1937 and encased in the original period wooden frame. Oil on canvas, the painting is 15 x 18 inches (38 x 46 cm), the frame 21 x 23-1/2 inches (53 x 60 cm) and is in fine condition. The frame has marks and wear typical of age. It comes with some period documents (Japanese) on the artist.

Massive Chinese Jin to Yuan dynasty (12th/13th century) Henan dark brown/black glazed horizontally ribbed ovoid form stoneware jar with high, wide shoulders narrowing at the base. The thick glaze drips down toward the flat, unglazed base. The rich black/brown glaze, referred to as “temmoku” by the Japanese, is highlighted by a russet colored cylindrical neck and rim. Measures about 13” high x 13 1/2” diameter. Very good overall condition with typical surface scratches to the glaze.
An interesting pair of boat shaped dishes, funagata o-zara, decorated in a limited palette of iron red, green enamel and gilding with a central motif of Karashishi on waves framed by a band of shippo, cash. The dishes date to the early nineteenth century and the late Edo period, circa 1800-1830.

A very unusual Kutani porcelain shallow bowl in the form of bamboo basket form rice scoop, zaru, decorated with a celadon glaze and finely painted in aka-e style with butterflies to the interior of the bowl, and an elaborate iron red brocade ground inset with repeating panels of Chrysanthemums and Suzuki, pampas grass.
The bowl measures 22cm in length and is 18,5cm in width and at its highest point measures 6.5cm. The dish is in very good condition no cracks, chips or restoration...

An insert table screen with carved wood lattice work. The round porcelain plaque with depiction of three immortals in a landscape painted in underglaze blue. The reverse is bearing a six character "Daoguang" seal mark. Maybe the plaque was once a dish and reduced. Condition: lattice work with few missing pieces and little glue residue.
