Late Ming dynasty 16th-17th century Wanli-Thianqi period. Condition restored small "D" shape re-stuck to the rim, further in good condition and wonderful glaze. Diameter: 15.4 cm and High: 7.8 cm.

A nicely blue & white dish, decorated in the center with figure of Shoulao in "Shou" calligraphy, underside with figurine on the landscape. It is a typical ware of Ming dynasty late 15th to early 16th century, Hongzhi (1488-1505) period Mingyao ware. Condition with one tiny chip, no crack and free from any restoration as well. A very tall footed chawan by Kawai Kanjiro enclosed in a fine Kiri-wood box endorsed by his daughter Koha, head of the Kawai Kanjiro Museum. The piece is very much in this potters unique style. The pale rough clay is covered in ash colored glaze with a wide band of soft green, within which are two floral scribbles in red and blue. A bronze official's seal with the Chinese characters meaning "natural" and "pure." The top of the seal has a seated rabbit with its long ears folded behind its head. The rabbit is well-formed and proportioned down to the details of the toes on its paws. Period: Western Jin Size: (Seal) 2.4 cm x 2.4 cm., Height = 2.7 cm. Condition: Very good.

A bamboo brush pot carved in relief of a sage in contemplation wearing a flowing robe surrounded by nature - the hills are carved in relief while trees, grasses and flowers are etched around him. To his right side is a feather fan. There is a signed poem about his feather fan inscribed to the left of the carvings. It is a serene, well proportioned, beautifully carved piece. A very unusual art nouveau style Kutani vase decorated with a jagged forest of pink trees on soft green carpet, butterflies circling the shoulder which breaks into a darkened cloud of moriage beads decorated with spiraling karakusa designs in slightly raised gold. Superb workmanship, it is simply signed Kutani-zo (made in Kutani). The vase is 10 inches (25.5 cm) tall and in excellent condition and dates from the first quarter of the 20th century.

A rare blue & white censer, decorated with three Phoenix on flight to the exterior and standing on the three foot of Lion mask form. Ming dynasty late 16th century, possibly Jiajing-Wanli phase, collected on the South Sulawesi area. Condition with small D shape re-stuck to the rim and firing cracks inside, appears glaze hairline to the exterior. Diameter: 26.5 cm and High: 13 cm.

An attractive white brass water pipe complete with all its parts (cleaning tools and original chain). Two surfaces of the square-shaped body have etched artwork of women reading in a garden surrounded by foliage. The remaining 2 surfaces have an etched poem about the scene. The calligraphy is particularly beautiful.

A rare and good blue & white bowl was ever excavated on South Sulawesi area, decorated outside with continuous Chrysanthemum scroll above the Lotus petal panels around the foot and inside with a single Peony flower within double circle, diaper pattern around the rim, all in fine cobalt blue tone. A small Burmese Buddha made of silver. Its form is simple, unadorned and its hand is in the earth-touching gesture. The face has a wide nose with connected eyebrows and has a quiet presence.

This is a beautiful Qing dynasty blue enamel glazed small basin. The basin rise from a shallow base upwards into a u shaped everted flat rim of 3.5cm. On the outside of the basin, it is painted with three pairs of peony flowers. On the flat rim, it is decorated with lotus flowers as viewed from the top interspersed with mosaic design. Description: A white jade pendant was carved as two fishes chasing a pearl. In simple and well-executed lines, the fishes were adorned with star patterns. The jade was in pale white and some yellowish tint. Whitish incursions were in dots on the surface. The jade in the pictures looks the same as we see in real. A finely blue & white jar, with fluted sides body and decorated in underglazed blue of medallion filled with censer, vase and scholar object. Around the neck and foot rim border with a white on blue Chrysanthemum scroll. Nice one from estate collection pieces. Early Ching Kangxi period (1662-1722). Condition is excellent, no chips, no cracks and free from any restoration, unfortunately the cover is missing. High: 14 cm.

A blue & white small bowl, well balance potted, decorated at the interior center with an Eagle and diaper pattern border around the rim. Four Chinese character mark on the base "Da Ming Nien Chao" within double circle. Late Ming dynasty Longqing-Wanli period. Condition is very good, only one tiny chip to rim and to the foot rim, otherwise is perfect with no any cracks and free from restoration as well. Diameter: 10 cm and High: 5.5 cm.

An oblong piece of golden brown amber with carvings in relief of two flying bats among clouds. Each bat has the tassled end of a rope in its mouth; on this rope are three coins. Bats and coins both represent good fortune. A translucent blue Chinese glass bead (Ming period)comes with the amber.

A rare and superb example of Ming dynasty 15th century blue & white large bowl, decorated at the exterior with Mythical Horses among Conch and Fish. The interior with a Winged Fish in the center surrounded by four Mythical Horses, all is painted with a white on blue of sea wave background. Condition : re-stuck without missing pieces and slightly warped. Diameter: 22.5 cm.

This is a fine reddish brown piece of bronze censer. It is of bombe shaped standing on three short feet resting on a curved lotus stand. On the underside of the bronzer censer, it bears the Ming dynasty Xuande reign mark but from the Qing dynasty, circa. 18th century. The stand is included with the censer.

Miao womans Zhaotong style robe from Guizhou province, Wumeng mountain region. The traditional arrow pattern of this garment was considered as a protection from the arrows of enemies. Combining cotton and wool homespun, these garments were used literally as blankets to protect from the cold while tending cattle. Not many survived and the condition reflects the use. Robe is close to 5 feet in width.

This is an old Chinese carpentry tool. It was used the same as today's carpenter's "chalk line". The bowl would be filled with powdered charcoal and the string would be pulled through the bowl, and a straight line would be snapped. The string would be rewound by tuning the "crank handle". Older carpenters frequently made their own tool and the carving on this one is very well done, a dragons head floating in a wave pattern. Note the hand made string...very rare.
