Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Buddhist Lotus Jar

This rare and interesting pottery jar was made between the 10th and 13th centuries, during the Five Dynasties period (AD 906 - 960), Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province.�

It is quite "heavily-potted" and relatively highly-fired. The jar and cover have been formed with a lotus leaf design...

A rare one taken from our old collection of Ming 15th century b/w bowl, decorated outside with carved design of chrysanthemum pattern. Inside center with 'Vajra' and surrounded by four branch chrysanthemum to cavetto wall. Very good condition, only minor flake chip to foot rim and minor crackled glaze to body, but still sound very well when we tapped lightly. Diameter: 18.5cm and High: 8.6cm.

A rare b/w jar with nice fluted sides, decorated with continuously lotus scrolls around the body. Ming dynasty 16th century, 'Zheng De Nien Zhao' four character mark and of the period. Very good condition with no any chip and free from restoration, only two area in lower part body with 'star hairlines'. High: 12cm. Wide: 11.4cm.

A square cover made of very delicate red silk with the design of small flowers, lancet-shaped leaves, "mir-i-boteh" pines and tendrils, entirely embroidered in polychrome silks and silver wrapped thread. Purple silk lining with loops. Condition: clean, fabric with losses and splits, partially with backed and restored areas. Dimension : 119 cm x 117 cm.

Stunning and bold this vintage handmade repousse sterling silver clamper cuff was designed and signed c.1940's by silver artists Los Ballesteros. This double serpent design fits up to a 6 3/4" wrist when closed, larger if it is worn spread. Front measures 3 1/2" from top to bottom and 1 1/4" at the back. The spring is tight and secure. Small opening on the seam where the silver backing meets the repousse. No dents or dings. Beautiful vintage condition. 65grams, 2.3oz...

The inhalation of medicinal vapors was common practice during the late 19th and early 20th century. Inhaling devices came in many shapes and forms. This very decorative and functional inhaler was very popular during that period. I have seen an earlier and rare, boxed VapoCresolene example from the 1870's, and it was not as decorative as this lovely late-Victorian-styled inhaler...

A Longquan celadon bowl with flower shape in perfect condition found at South Celebes. Covered overall with slight gray green tone, only minor glaze frits to rim, no crack, no chip and free from any restoration. Northern Song dynasty. Diameter: 13.2cm, High: 6cm.

Thinly and well balance potted, decorated to outside with pine, prunus and bamboo tree, such called as Three Friends of Winter. Ming dynasty 16th century Jiajing ware. Condition with a tiny chip and slight long crack visible on enlargement 7, otherwise is good condition. Diameter: 9.5cm and High: 6cm.

A rare find of Ming b/w bowl, decorated with a figure among clouds and garden scenery. Inside center with a branch of prunus flower below a crescent moon. Dating around circa 1426-1450 Xuande-Zhendong Jindezhen folk art product. Condition is very good near to perfect, only found a tiny chip to rim, no crack and no any restoration. South Celebes found. Diameter: 16.5cm.

An interesting eskimo miniature canoo, made of wood, seal skin and bone. The figure is wearing cotton clothes. Age: early 20th century. L. 50cm, H. 9 cm. Condition: Expected age wear, several cracks in the seal skin, peddle is missing.

A late Tang dynasty small water dropper, covered overall with black glaze. Condition is perfect. High: 10cm.
