An igneous Shigaraki hana-ire by the innovative young Mushin-Gama potter Kowari Tetsuya enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The vase is 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) tall, 4-3/4 inches (12 cm) diameter at the bottom. It is in perfect condition. Tetsuya was born in Fuji-city Shizuoka in 1970, and graduated the prestigious Meiji University. He has apprenticed under a number of teachers, taking a bit from each without allowing their direction to overpower his own personal style...

This classic Mingei hanaire is by Mashiko potter Hyuga Munetoshi, a one time student of the Hamada kiln (?). Glazed in an exceedingly rich tessha/kaki iron glaze the pot has wax resisted decoration of flowers on either side of the pot. Created for both function and decoration , this pot is a great example of modern Mingei influenced Mashiko pottery. The glaze is far more complex and rich than the photos convey and will not disappoint in person...

Large, totemic Shigaraki vase by veteran master craftsman, Tani Seiuemon I. This impressive and well fired Shigaraki hanaire was thrown in two sections and joined to create the vase and foot of this pot made out of wonderful kinose clay from the region.

This vase measures 12.75" x 5" and is in perfect, original condition with tea cloth and original signed box.

Silver ray-skin texture covers this fabulous Katakuchi sake pot by Ichikawa Toru enclosed in the original signed wooden box. OMG a chilled Daiginjo served with this would have to taste like a million bucks! Like a footed softball, it is 12 cm (4-3/4 inches) diameter, ever so slightly shorter although it appears to be taller than it is wide.
One of my favorite artists, the innovative Ichikawa Toru was born in Tokyo in 1973...
