A stunning work by Shigaraki Legend Tsujimura Shiro enclosed in the original signed wooden box inside the lid of which is scrawled a nude figure and the epitaph NY 5/24/06. It is known that when in New York at an exhibition in 2006 the artist was entertained at a gentlemen’s club and was purported to have had a very good time. This is likely a reference to that event. The vessel is 14 inches (35 cm) tall, 12-1/2 inches (32 cm) diameter and in excellent condition...

An Oribe vessel covered in pale earth-tones scribbled with nudes by Suzuki Goro enclosed in the original wooden box titled Yahichida Tsubo. A crow perches on the base like a signature cawing out GORO! Yahichida was a style of Oribe popular in the Momoyama and early Edo periods. That said it is likely that they did not decorate with such audacious flair back then...

Wangata style teabowl with fluid dark and light cobalt decoration decorating the exterior of the chawan. Showing both Seto and Annam styles, this chawan by Nakajima Mokusen (b. 1955) has a very poetic appearance and is a very functional teabowl.

This chawan is in fine condition, was made in 2003 and has its original signed box, measuring 4.9" x 3.25".

Spectacular Hi-iro defines this sake set by Konishi Toko II enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Various shades of color scorch the undecorated flame licked raw earth. A pleasure to drink from in every aspect, every cup offering a new facet. The tokkuri is 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) tall, cups 2-1/4 inches (6 cm) diameter and all is in perfect condition. Toko, of course, learned from his father Toko I (1899-1954) and was succeeded by his own son Toko III.

Mystical heads adorn the four corners of this Persian-blue glazed open vase by Living National Treasure Kato Takuo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 5 x 4 x 10 inches (11 x 13 x 25.5 cm) and is in excellent condition. Kato Takuo, I am sure, requires no introduction. He was trained in ceramics by both his father, Kato Kobei, and at the Kyoto School of ceramics...

A globular vase covered in the trademark sansai glazes of Ningenkokuho Tokuda Yasokichi III (Masahiko) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The vase is 6-1/2 inches (17 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. Designated Living National Treasure in 1997 for his supremacy in the use of Kutani glazes, Yasokichi, born Masahiko, has gone a step further than many National Treasures by broadening his spectrum with a new style of Kutani ware...

Hanako Nakazato is a 14th generation potter from Japan. The Nakazato family is a well-known pottery family in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, with the 12th generation Nakazato Taroemon being designated a National Living Treasure for Karatsu ceramics.
