An extremely well fired Iga chawan by Shigaraki and Iga potter; Furutani Kazuya. This medieval styled chawan has a pleasant cylindrical form with areas of running ash, dusted ash and hi-iro along with clamshell impressions from where the bowl rested while being fired. Pleasant crackle style chawan with Rimpa influenced design under and over the glaze. This chawan was made by veteran Kyoto native potter, Suzuki Soji who was a student of Tomimoto Kenkichi. Suzuki's chawan now days can cost 200,000 yen and more.

This chawan is in excellent condition and does not have a box.

Encrusted in blue glass, this Iga Tokkuri by Furutani Kazuya is a pleasure to see and hold. It is 5 inches (12. Cm) tall, 3 inches (8.5 cm) diameter and in perfect condition, enclosed in the original signed wooden box.

Serene yuteki temmoku conical chawan made in the Chinese taste, though Japanese. The chocolaty oil spots float on the darker iron glaze as if suspended, or frozen in motion. Though marked, the seal is unread. This chawan was purchased at a store in Hagi. The original owner could not wait the extra day for the wood box, so it is presented here in a Hagi store gift box. It was thought that this chawan was made by Notomi Choun, but I will leave the detective work to the next owner.

A Large natsu-wan by chadogu specialist; Kamiya Eisuke. This teabowl is glazed in a rich yohen-tetsu-yu glaze that runs from rusty red tones at the lip to hare’s fur and glassy black drips in the mikomi and near the kodai with much of the glaze being infused with iron crystals trapped within the glaze. Exceedingly well fired Shigaraki mizusashi resembling two ash covered stacked stones. This ash and charcoal covered mizusashi is an enigma. The signature is illegible but the piece is obviously a work of one of the most talented Shigaraki potters of the post-war period. Possibly Furutani Michio, Ueda Naokata or Juho, Sugimoto Sadamitsu or at least someone of that caliber...
