A watercolor miniature portrait done by Richard Morrell Staigg. The sitter is a nice-looking blue-eyed young man in a black coat and cravat, with a light blue vest. As is usual with Staigg, the painting is superbly limned. It is housed in one half of a leather case.

The condition is excellent, with no problems whatsoever. Sight size is 3 1/2" by 3".

Attractive 1940's watercolor painting of coastal surf and rocks, 11 1/2" by 15 1/2" (18" by 22" in attractive gold carved frame), signed at lower left by listed California artist CARL RUBEN WALLINE (1884-1976). Watercolor and white gouache highlighting on heavy paper landscape, 7 3/4" by 10 1/4", unframed (an early ruled mat with handwritten title and "19th CENTy." surrounds it), unsigned, the subject a hilly location in India (possibly a "hill station" in the foothills of the Himalayas). Note the fine detail including structures, tall skinny palms, a flag pole, etc. This probably dates to the 1860's or 1870's, and was likely executed by an English artist traveling through the region at the time...

The work is after the noted American artist GEORGE HENRY DURRIE (1820-1863). Watercolor on paper, unframed, 9" by 11 3/4", signed at lower right in pencil, and signed again and apparently titled on the reverse, by the noted, long-lived American artist, THERESA FERBER BERNSTEIN (1890-2002). The watercolor likely dates to about the middle years of the 20th century, I would guess. Writing on the reverse seems to say "Israel/Yarkon River". In upper corner in different hand is "Yarkon, B./Israel"...

An oil on canvas painting of a young prince or son born of a noble family, 30" by 24 3/4", unframed, unsigned. The boy's face to my eye reminds of Goya, so perhaps this could be of Spanish origin (though, "FRANCE" is written on the stretcher in modern hand). The painting was relined sometime in the mid 20th century. There are some scratches at upper right which appear as white marks in the photos, some minor edge losses at lower left, and there is an even craquelure over much of the surface.
