Parisian Artist P. BORTIGZ watercolor of The Left Bank 19x15” Beautifully done

A 12" by 16" vintage oil on Masonite work, (18 3/4" by 23" **in DAMAGED frame, not shown**), signed at lower left corner by well listed American artist LEONARD C. LANE (1910-1978). The painting is titled on old reverse label "Lighthouse at Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia". The circa 1950's label is from The Little Gallery, Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony, Jupiter Island, Florida. Lane was born in Bristol, England and emigrated to Canada with his family when he was sixteen...

Oil on canvas, 12" by 18" (15" by 21" as framed), the subject a subtly rendered impressionist scene of large trees by a wide river, with just scant human activity present in the form of a few figures in a tiny boat in the middle distance, and a structure on the far shore. Executed in a silvery, cool palette of grays, tans and greens, this is a typical work of the well listed Scottish artist ROBERT RUSSELL MACNEE (1880-1952)...

Original oil or casein painting on board by George Joseph Habergritz (American, 1909-1998), circa 1950, offered in excellent condition. This painting measures 6" by 12" (12" by 18" in its original frame). It is signed l.c. "Habergritz" and titled on the verso: "Mexican Landscape". It is also inscribed: "Artist: George Habergritz, 47 E. 9th St. NYC" and "For Lillian, from George and Maya" (Maya Pollack Habergritz, the artist's wife). Habergritz is listed in all the usual databases...

This is a beautifully executed work, watercolor and gouache on paper, 14 1/2" by 20 1/2" (21" by 27" as framed), signed at lower right by the noted English artist WILFRED KNOX (1884-1966). Knox is known for his marine art, such as clipper ships, but also for scenes around the British Isles and the luminous Venetian and Mediterranean coastal scenes with shipping and maritime subject matter as seen in this example...

Very detailed, complex, good-sized (21" by 15 3/4", 29" by 23 1/4" as framed) ink and watercolor whimsical drawing of a cartoonish scene including Victorian type house, car, old lady pushing shopping cart, cat, bird, dog, -----well, let's say it's hard to describe....just see the images yourself! At first glance this looks like a print or reproduction, but it is absolutely ORIGINAL ART. Carl Muecke is a veteran of political satire expressed in art, going back to his days at UC Berkeley...

A modern (circa 1950's), unframed, oil on canvas painting of two brutish, almost centaur-like men very apparently engaging in some sort of heavy conflict and struggle, signed lower left Ignon, measuring 27" by 33". The artist is GUI IGNON (1897-1963), not widely known today but a man who led a very interesting life and brushed elbows with the famous and intellectuals. Ignon was born in Caen, in Normandy, France...

A beautiful antique original American tonalist landscape painting. Oil on academy panel circa 1900 unsigned presented in the original carved gilt wood frame. Measuring overall 17.5" W x 14.5" H x 1.5" the panel measures 9" x 12".

Portrait Miniature of a Man in Profile, Germany, late 18th century, watercolor on ivory, rectangular shape set in a gilt-metal frame. Size: 3" x 2.5". Condition Report: Good condition with minor damage to the glass on lower left side.

A fine miniature painting done with watercolors on natural material. The sitter is dressed in a diaphanous white gown edged in pale blue at the bodice, with a similar scarf trailing from her towering hair style.

The reverse of the portrait deserves special mention as it depicts a sheaf of wheat done with meticulous hairwork, cinched with a gold band and set against a mother of pearl background. Wheat was often used to symbolize immortality and resurrection...

A nice miniature painting done by Christopher Greiner. The sitter is a gentleman in a black coat and tie, but Greiner emphasized the somber feel of the painting by using a background of black and dark green.

The painting has no condition flaws, and is housed in a cast foliate pendant case with hair in the glazed aperture on the back...

A nicely done portrait miniature of a gentleman, executed in watercolor on natural organic material. Housed in its original ebonized wood frame which has an interesting musical motif as the hanger base.

No condition issues for either the painting or the frame. Sight size is 2 7/8" by 2 1/4", and the framed size is 4 3/4" by 4 1/4".

A nicely done watercolor in natural material portrait of a young woman. Complementing the blue background, the sitter is presented with blue eye shadow and a blue ribbon and bow in her hair. The glazed reverse of the gold filled case is covered with a nice display of woven hair plaits.

Condition is excellent, with a case size of 1 7/8" by 1 5/8".

A watercolor portrait, on natural wafer, of a handsome gentleman attired in a black jacket and vest with a pale pink cravat. Housed in a very heavy and well-made brass case with the reverse side being fully glazed over fabric.

The condition of the painting and the case is excellent, with no flaws. The white dots and background color variations are just due to exterior dust and light reflections. Overall size is 2 7/8" by 2 3/8".
