Oil on canvas of a square in Paris, larger size at 31 1/2" by 31 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right corner with what appears as "R. Ode". The painting likely dates to about 1960, judging from the clothing of the people in the image. I do not see a listing by this name but am continuing to research. Condition: the painting will need restoration...

Watercolor on paper painting of a street scene in Bermuda, signed at lower left corner by American artist Jack Crowe, and dated there 1950. This is an impressionist view likely of Hamilton, the principal town. The work measures 10" by 13 3/4" (18" by 22" in what is essentially an inner frame, protective only---you should plan on reframing). Crowe does not appear to be a listed artist...

A vintage watercolor of two girls seated on rocks at the seashore, signed at lower left by artist Frank Lockwood and dated there 1945. The piece measures " by " and " by " as framed. All photos were taken through the detail-dulling non-glare glass that was popular in the sixties and seventies. I see a listing for a Frank Lockwood as photographer but no convincing listing for a painter by that name.

Russell Cowles (1887–1979) was an American artist who painted landscapes, still lifes, and human forms in a style that combined both modernist and traditional elements. In 1947 the New York Times critic Howard Devree said "his work shows a remarkably dynamic understanding of both traditional occidental and oriental painting as well as of the abstract principles which activate and underlie the modern movement as such"

Watercolor on paper, unframed, 9" by 11 3/4", signed at lower right in pencil, and signed again and apparently titled on the reverse, by the noted, long-lived American artist, THERESA FERBER BERNSTEIN (1890-2002). The watercolor likely dates to about the middle years of the 20th century, I would guess. Writing on the reverse seems to say "Israel/Yarkon River". In upper corner in different hand is "Yarkon, B./Israel"...

Circa late 19th century watercolor painting, probably American, 9 1/2" by 13" (16" by 19 1/4" framed), unsigned, featuring distant high snowy peaks behind a foreground lake. This was found in California and could be a scene of the American west. More than likely, it is by a listed artist---who neglected to sign his or her work. There is some edge browning from the mat, otherwise the work is in excellent condition considering its obvious age.

Oil on canvas painting of a young blued-eyed blonde woman in circa 1940 hat and provocative gauzy top, 24" by 18" (31" by 24 1/2" framed), signed at lower center by listed French artist CESAR VILOT. There does not seem to be a biography of Vilot but his works of sprawled female nudes and ballerinas show him to be a talented painter of women. This work somewhat resembles the work of artist Jean Gabriel Domergue. Condition is excellent; frame shows some wear especially at left...

Watercolor on paper painting of waves lapping at rocks in the ocean, 9" by 12", unframed, signed at lower right in blue by well-listed California artist GEORGE DEMONT OTIS (1879-1962). A fine oil on canvas painting, the subject a water powered mill by a peaceful stream in the autumnal French countryside, signed at lower left by the noted painter and graphic artist PAUL EMILE LECOMTE (1877-1950). The work (26" by 20", and " by " as framed) exhibits the highly developed classic impressionist technique for which the artist is noted. A pastel drawing of waves breaking on a beach as two gulls cruise overhead, signed at lower left by artist H. Stewart. The work measures 10 1/2" by 13 3/4" (19" by 25" in gold frame with some wear). There are several possibilities as to the identity of the (likely American) artist but even if listed the artist would not be major. This can be enjoyed as the skilled depiction of a familiar and timeless scene.......ocean waves breaking on a beach...
