This charming study of a young girl intent on cutting out paper dolls is reminiscent of works by Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt and Pierre-Auguste Renoir (his earlier works). She is beautifully captured with her rosebud lips, her hair tied up in a bow, a lacy pinafore over her navy dress and stockinged legs ...

A rare painting by the well-listed Norwegian woman artist SIGRID LOUISE BOLLING (1853-1917), the subject a scenic fjord with towering peaks in the background, some with snow, hulking above man's humble houses on a rise at left. The work, signed but not dated at lower left, is oil on wood panel, measuring 10" by 13 1/2" (18" by 20 1/2" framed). Bolling was born in the Oslo outer borough of Vestre Aker, Norway, her father an officer and landowner, her mother Baroness Wedel-Jarlsberg...

Oil on canvas, 30" by 25" and 1 1/4" wide frame, unsigned, the subject two ladies and a cradled baby, in a traditional European interior of the nineteenth century. Due to the stretcher and canvas weave, I believe this is actually a work by an American artist, who skillfully copied a master work from Europe (probably Italian, or, Tyrol area/South German?)...

A beautifully executed oil on canvas painting by George Harland, a noted British artist. The scene depicts a man returning in a rowboat at dusk. It combines elements of luminism and impressionism, and was done when both of those styles were in fashion. Harland was a highly thought of painter and was exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1907.

The painting is in excellent condition, with no impainting or restoration...

A well-painted work featuring an interior, perhaps a residence, perhaps a restaurant or other public space, a table with fruit in a bowl, a chair, and sofa filling the space. The oil on canvas, 17 1/2" by 21" (20 1/2" by 24" in old frame, likely the original), is signed somewhat indecipherably at lower left and dated there "Berlin 1909". The name appears at first glance to be "B. Geis(xxxx)" or "B. Geism(xxxx)"...

Oil on canvas landscape of an autumnal forest with small foreground lake or pond, a man in a boat, signed in red at lower right, difficult to decipher the signature, though the work bears an old export stamp and an old label from a Budapest, Hungary auction house. The painting measures 21" by 10 1/4" plus two inches of framing on a side including inner gold fillet and green velvet liner. The signature looks like "J Tietz" or something similar but that is just a guess...

This exceptional oval 60" x 32" French Painting is Signed Gustave Bouvard?? The painting was purchased from an antique dealer in Baton Rouge, La and he said the painting came from Napolean Bonaparte's Brothers Estate. It is signed in the lower left corner and is in Excellent Condition. Has original frame and stretcher. We are researching this painting and if you have any information please advise.

From our European Collection, a good and sizable 19th century oil on canvas, British School, depicting gothic ruins over an aqueduct at moonlight. The artist's skillful use of depth perspective, along with adept use of various shades of grays and blacks, all contrasted and backlit by a cloudy moonlit sky, combine effectively to create a wonderfully evocative and somber scene that captures well a time and place from centuries past.

Old impressionist oil on canvas laid on wood board painting of a typical Dutch scene with windmills, boats, and a waterway, 9" by 11 1/4" (13 1/2" by 15 3/4" in 20th century frame). There does appear to be a signature at lower left but despite my best efforts I am unable to determine that name...

The pair of antique paintings will make for a highly decorative addition to a home. One of the apparently unsigned and undated works features mostly vegetables, with a game bird and possibly a fish, while in the other work, fruit predominates. The rustic paintings were executed by a competent though not highly refined hand. Measurements are similar but not identical. The vegetable piece measures 19 1/2" by 28" and 26" by 34 1/4" framed; the fruit work 23 1/2" by 31 3/4" and 31" by 39" frame...
