Original oil painting on panel by Max Band (Lithuanian-American, 1900-1974), signed l.l. and dating from the forties or the fifties. In excellent condition and still in its original frame. 23" by 19" in its frame, 14" by 10" painting alone. Max Band is a well-known School of Paris artist. He studied in Berlin in the early twenties before moving to Paris. His first solo exhibition was in his homeland at the National Theatre in Kaunas in 1925. Oil on masonite painting of colorful flowers in a vase, painted in a lovely impressionist hand, with lots of light, signed at lower left with what appears as "Olle Erikson" and dated there 1946. The painting measures 17 1/2" by 21" (21" by 24 1/2" framed). I have searched online under this name and similar spellings and strangely cannot seem to come up with a listed artist corresponding to the name. Listed or not, the artist knew how to paint...

Oil on canvas painting of a young blued-eyed blonde woman in circa 1940 hat and provocative gauzy top, 24" by 18" (31" by 24 1/2" framed), signed at lower center by listed French artist CESAR VILOT. There does not seem to be a biography of Vilot but his works of sprawled female nudes and ballerinas show him to be a talented painter of women. This work somewhat resembles the work of artist Jean Gabriel Domergue. Condition is excellent; frame shows some wear especially at left...

Found locally in Los Angeles, this is a large oil on canvas still life of orange and yellow garden nasturtiums in a blue and white old ceramic vessel, a ladies' fan and blue beads resting at its base, the colorful subjects placed elegantly in the neutral space of a cloth covered table and gray-white background, the work signed at lower right by the noted Spanish artist VICENTE SANTAOLARIA (1886-1967)...

Signed at lower left "Albert L. Fischer", this is an unframed, sizable oil on canvas (46" by 27"), the scene almost mural-like: an apparently Italian lake (see the gondolier at right), framed by blooming wisteria dripping off a trellis at top and climbing a lattice at bottom, several boats plying the calm lake waters. I don't see a listing for the artist...

Papaluca is THE SON OF an artist who died in 1934, known for his depictions of the great sailing ships; works by the son, who emigrated to the United States, are very decorative and popular among collectors of marine art. The painting is in good condition with the exception of several lightly abraded areas, seen in the photos in the sails at left (and one at right portion of sails)...

Mid twentieth century oil on canvas painting of mallard ducks in flight, signed at lower left "De Marcillac", the measurements 21 1/2" by 43", a several inch wide whitewashed frame available with the painting. This is a beautifully painted work that will be surely appreciated by the sportsman or decoy collector. There is a small bit of work visible on the net by an illustrator going by this name, but I cannot tie the piece to that artist...

Written in pencil on the old backing is the name of the artist and the title: "La Rue du Moulin de Beune Paris". The circa 1950's work is in generally excellent condition...

A vintage impressionist oil on canvas painting of a sunny fenced meadow, signed with initials "FB" at lower right, 10" by 14" (14 1/4" by 18 1/4" framed). The work came from a German-American family which had brought much art from the old country, suggesting a European origin. The painting is pleasant and easy to live with. A cleaning to remove light surface dirt would be beneficial, as would a new gold frame, the present wood one not flattering to the work.
