Original oil painting on canvas by Alvin Conrad Sella (USA, NJ and AL, 1919-2013). Signed and dated LR. Also signed, dated, and titled "La Plaza -Bull Ring" verso. 30' by 36" plus frame. One of two paintings by this artist currently available.

For the last four years, I have researched every aspect of this self-portrait to confirm its artist identity!! Today, I can confirm the artist of this self-portrait, it is ROY FOX LICHTENSTEIN!! I was able to match the 1956 signature to the “rather primitive notion of patterned linear repetition”, or unknown markings (which look like Hebrew) on the side of an airplane in the RFL’s drawing “AIRPLANE 1961”. Similar markings can be found on the RFL’s TEN DOLLAR BILL 1956 Lithograph...

Oil on canvasboard painting of flowers, vase and pot, 9 3/4" by 13 1/2" (14" by 18" framed), signed at lower right "L. E. Thackery". No listed artist comes up with a search for this name, but that does not diminish the quality of the work itself, which probably dates to about the 1940's. There are two missing small areas of paint at left, otherwise condition is excellent. The frame post-dates the art and is pleasant and complementary.

This is an appealing little sketch, oil on board of a landscape with a line of trees, a tawny field, a few structures and an extensive view beyond, unsigned, circa 1940's or 1950's. It is obviously by a talented artist who failed to sign his or her name. Perhaps it is a study for a more finished painting to come. Measuring 12" by 16", it should be easy to find a (common, "standard size") suitable frame. Condition is good save for a stubbed, worn corner at upper extreme right, as shown.

This Abstract Expressionist painting dates to 1957, and it has a partial signature on the lower left corner. It measures 38" x 28" and has a small amount of paint loss. Notice the bright and unique colors and with heavy inpasto brushwork. On 5/3/04, I presented this painting to the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation for review where I had a brief meeting with the assistant director. Mid Century Sci Fi oil on canvas of a card dealer wearing a dealers visor and a green cardigan sweater said to be magazine cover from a 1950s sci fi publication. We bought this and another we are listing in the late 1990 in Los Angeles , the seller didn't remember the artist name but said the artist was an early Sci Fi artist . the painting is unsigned in good condition though could use a cleaning. Very well done one of my favorites. Size overall 25" by 19.5" sight 19.5" by 13.5"
