This is a work with a real WPA 1930's feeling to it, but it is dated 1965. The artist was IDA HANSGEN, or possibly, HANSGREN. (There's a little writing on the frame on reverse that suggests there might have been an "r" in her name). Very surprisingly, I cannot find a listing or any information on her...

Oil on canvas painting of an extensive mountain landscape, 16" by 20", unsigned, unframed. This is a decorative work that needs a cleaning and a frame. Note how the extreme upper right edge, which had evidently been hidden under a frame, shows the true colors of the work. A regular size, framing this should not be expensive, and it's possible that a careful cleaning to remove the soiling might not have to be done by a professional.

The scene is a significant river winding among steep green bluffs, a feathery tree at left, the only sign of the hand of man a split rail fence.
