Though unsigned, the painting is clearly the work of a talented artist and is reminiscent of the work of Julian Alden Weir. The coloring is sophisticated and the perspective and reflections in the water are perfectly accomplished. The canvas remains on its original stretcher. A beautifully executed oil on canvas painting by George Harland, a noted British artist. The scene depicts a man returning in a rowboat at dusk. It combines elements of luminism and impressionism, and was done when both of those styles were in fashion. Harland was a highly thought of painter and was exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1907.
