One of a number of prints by this artist in my inventory, this is a fresh and clean rather early example of one of William Russell Flint's fine color reproductions issued in limited editions for collectors over a period of decades. Benton Murdoch Spruance, American, 1904-1967, "Set Pieces: Vanity of Trust," lithograph, image size 13 x 18 1/2 inches, 1949, edition of 30, pencil signed, titled and editioned. Spruance studied in Paris after winning the coveted Cresson Scholarship in 1928 while attending college at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He studied with Edmond and Jaques Desjobert in Paris before returning to the US and continuing his nearly forty year career as a printmaker.
A large lithograph print, the sheet 28 1/2" by 22 3/4", unframed, signed at center right with his monogram "JR" and star symbol, dated there 1950. This is a work of American illustrator artist JAMES REYNOLDS (1896-1996). The imagery of flowers and leaves reminds of the work of American twentieth century artist Charles Burchfield. Reynolds is often confused in art auction records and biographies with western American contemporary artist James Reynolds.

Plate signed etching, 13" by 10 1/4" inside the mat, the sheet 16" by 13 3/4", titled "Rue de la Glaciere", 1937, by the famous and important French modern artist MAURICE de VLAMINCK (1876-1958). The original edition is given as 400 or 500 examples; later restrikes might exist. I do not know if this might be one of them. The paper is very thin and delicate and appears ribbed as would laid style paper. I do not see any watermarks...

This is an interesting example of a monotype, in which art is created on a piece of glass which is then pressed against paper to produce a unique image. Three fine engravings of Mount Vernon, Monticello, and Independence Hall, nicely mounted and framed together vertically. The framed piece measures 16 1/2" by 11".
