Chromolithograph print of jockeys on their mounts in a race, circa mid 19th century, 13" by 19" (15" by 21" in modern day dark frame), signed in the image by the noted British Vanity Fair magazine caricature and sporting artist LIBERIO PROSPERI (1854-1928), who signed as "Lib". The print is framed without mat and has some condition issues, including two vertical folding creases, and a damage area at lower center, below the horse's leg (see close up of that)...

Lithograph on paper, unframed, the sheet 13 3/4" by 17 3/4", pencil signed at lower left and dated there 1949, and signed again in Hebrew and dated 1949 at lower right in pencil, by the noted Russian-born Israeli artist MIRON SIMA (1902-1999). According to a Wikipedia listing, Sima was born in Czarist Russia shtetl in 1902. By 1921 he was in Odessa, Russia for art study, and the following year saw him in Dresden, Germany...

Circa 1940's vintage period original lithograph print of the famous Alamo fort in San Antonio, Texas, pencil signed in the margin at lower right and dedicated "To Sally & Stan--M. Crittenden", and titled at lower left "The Alamo". The work measures 12 1/2" by 9 3/4" inside the mat, and 18 1/2" by 15 1/4" as framed. I have opened this up to take a peek inside, and have found that the mat is permanently affixed to the margins of the print...

Miro of course needs little introduction, as one of the best known artists of the twentieth century, his colorful iconic imagery by now firmly integrated into modern visual culture...

Circa 1865 chromolithograph print "Birthplace of Whittier, The Poet", (Haverhill, Massachusetts), 16 1/2" by 25 1/2" (22 1/2" by 32" as framed), published by Louis Prang of Boston and bearing his blue canvas stamp on the reverse, the artist being THOMAS HILL (1829-1908), the noted English-born painter who went on to work in New England and then the American West including California...

Dramatic linocut print, the sheet 26 1/4" by 17 7/8", unframed, numbered at lower left 3/6 and pencil signed at lower right and dated there 1971, the "HB" blind stamp adjacent, by the important and still highly underrated Swiss-California modernist HANS GUSTAV BURKHARDT (1904-1994). The subject is somewhat uncertain; perhaps a look at a catalogue raisonne of the artist's graphic works would provide the title. Burkhardt was born in Switzerland and arrived in America in 1924...

This is a large lithograph, 32 1/2" by 22 3/4", unframed, the subject a reclining nude in a claustrophobic room hung with framed artworks, signed at lower right in pencil by the artist WILLIAM BRICE, and numbered at lower left 5/20 examples. The work was created in 1962 and bears the blindstamp of Tamarind, as well as another unidentified blind stamp on the front and an ink stamp of a gallery, or printer, on the reverse...

One of an identically framed pair of Currier trotter horse prints in my shop, this example, "The Grand Horse ST. JULIEN, the 'King of Trotters'." (measuring 11 1/2" by 14 1/2" inside the mat, and 19" by 23" framed), is in very good condition. The print is after a painting by the noted American artist Scott Leighton. I have not examined it out of the frame but for the most part, the kinds of problems that most Currier and Ives print acquire over time are not present...

This is an original hand-colored, 19th century lithograph print by the iconic American ornithologist and naturalist artist JOHN J. AUDUBON, from the nineteenth century series in the small octavo size. Inside the present mat, dimensions are 6" by 10" (13 1/4" by 17 1/4" as framed). The title is "Clapper Rail or Salt Water Marsh Hen" and this is Plate number 310 in a long series of bird prints in the small octavo size.
