Smith was born in Lisbon, moved to Paris while young, and became a French citizen in 1911...

A mid 20th century lithograph by Mourlot after the original 1891 famous lithograph poster produced by HENRI de TOULOUSE-LAUTREC (1864-1901) "La Goulue", which served as early advertising for the-then new Moulin Rouge nightclub in Montmartre. The original very large poster, Lautrec's first attempt at lithography, was plastered all over Paris. Only 3,000 copies were printed and the surviving examples are very rare and valuable today (one achieved $500,000 at auction)...

Yasuo Kuniyoshi 1893-1953 Japanese /American This is an original lithograph created by Japanese American artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi. The title is Burlesque Queen, it was created and printed in 1936 for the American Artists School in New York City. It was created in an edition of 100. The image measures 11 5/8X9 1/2 inches. This image is plate signed as issued, it is inscribed in pencil lower left "100 prints"...

The print is in good antique condition (not examined out of frame) with a faint damp stain at upper left margin and some foxing and slight discolorations at lower area...

A group of THREE 19th century English botanical prints, two framed identically in gold with closed corners, the third framed in a different gold frame with beading. The matching pair measure 19 1/2" by 17 1/2" in the frames; the final piece slightly smaller at 19" by 16". The print in that latter piece, by artist Fitch, has horizontal creases, one sharp; the year "1846" is written in pencil at bottom edge...

A man carrying a load of firing wood followed by his faithful dog, a solitary cow standing near its barn in the background, a man leaving the side door of his house carrying a bucket, and a man and woman leaving the home in a sleigh carriage driven by two horses down a country road – all orchestrate to create the nostalgic beauty which Currier and Ives created as the nation attempted to forget the pains of the Civil War.

Undoubtedly a New England vignette, it resonates with Americ...

An original lithograph print, "Le Peintre et son Double" ("The Painter and his Double"), 1981, from the publication Derriere le Miroir, edition of 15000 with the original center fold, Mourlot ref. #992, by iconic Russian-French-Jewish artist MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985). The print is unsigned; measurements inside the mat are 14 1/4" by 19 3/4" (19 1/2" by 25" framed). Condition is excellent with no foxing.
