PAIR of etchings of dogs, one a Fox Terrier, the other a Scottish Terrier, each signed at lower right in pencil by the renowned twentieth century German dog and cat and other animal artist, KURT MEYER-EBERHARDT (1895-1977). The artist was born in Leipzig and died in Munich. In the late 1920's he was studying with Thedor Hagen and Lyonel Feininger, and could have ascended to the highest levels of the art world. He however chose to pursue his love of depicting domestic and other animals...

An example of the 1934/35 lithograph "Ruf Des Todes", from the "Death Cycle" series of lithographs by famous German artist KATHE KOLLWITZ (1867-1945). The sheet which measures 19" by 16" was long ago laid down to a board. Evident past attempts to remove an over mat has resulted in skinning of the paper in the lower portion, and residue from the over mat remains at top. There is a line from the old mat all around, with the paper within that line lightly browned...

A lithograph or photo-lithograph of a poster of 1953 for the Galerie des Ponchettes, Nice, exhibition "Le Livre Italien Contemporain". I am not clear if this was an exhibition of Chagall works, or an exhibit of Italian books and how they may have been illustrated at that time, perhaps by figures like Chagall. I have seen online that this print may actually date to 1966, printed by a James K. Foster after the original 1953 image...

An example of the scarce "sur blanc" lithograph prints of famed French caricaturist and satirist artist HONORE DAUMIER (1808-1879), the 1851 print from the "Actualites" series, and Le Charivari. It is beautifully hand colored, with gum arabic highlights in the dark areas of the central figure's robe. Not examined out of the frame, it appears very clean and fresh (happy to examine out of frame upon request)...
