Each has hand-cut pages, gilding on the top edge, gilt purple endpapers and cloth bindings with title stickers applied to the spines. Each is tightly bound and includes a tissue-covered plate of Stevenson and an extra spine sticker tipped in to the endpapers...

No date given.The pages have darkened and the pastedown shows minor wear and a bit of spotting otherwise the book is fine. The boards are brown featuring a burgundy design with gilt lettering on the spine. A faint school stamp is on the title page. 244 pp.

A complete two volume set published by Harper and Brothers, New York in 1894. The gilt top pages are uncut and there is a frontispiece with each volume. The dark blue cloth boards show some wear especially at the corners.

First edition, second state ("copyrighted" instead of copyright).Published in 1876 by the American Publishing Co. Hartford CT. by subscription only. Brown boards with embossed design on the front, spine and back. The spine has gilt lettering. Issues: the cover is a bit worn with fraying/wear at the corners and bottom; the back cover is loose from the book ( see photos). Illustrated however no artist is mentioned.

An antique book published in 1898 by Velhagen & Klasing, Verlag. The tan linen boards feature embossed black and gold gilding. There is a tiny tear on the title page and the end papers are missing. Possibly an eighth edition, the text is in German.

A rare first edition of Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) book "A Tramp Abroad", as found in apparently scarce original leather covers rather than the more commonly seen cloth. The book has the ad after page 631 and "Moses" rather than "Titian's Moses" in the frontispiece, indicating an early state. I am not a book specialist so am pointing out characteristics that I see suggest rarity and early state...

The book is in excellent condition with the exception of a small tear on the side of one page (see photo) and an inscription in pencil on the front free paper (where there is light foxing).
