For the history buff or specialized collector of items relating to the history of medicine, a framed photo of famed doctor WILLIAM J. MAYO (1861-1939), one of the co-founders of the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The circa 1920 photo is inscribed at bottom margin "To Dr. E. L. Crispin with kind personal regards/W. J. Mayo". William Mayo was a son of country physician W.W. Mayo. Exposed early on to the basics of medicine, he went on to medical school in the 1880's...

A vintage gelatin silver print of Oulah-Nails street in Biskra Algeria located on the back and the photographer Alexandre Bougault (1851-1917) identified with his blind stamp in the lower right corner. 10 7/8 x 8 5/8 inches (27.5 x 22 cm).

Condition; good except for bruised corners.

Nice vintage embossed Halloween post card showing a boy carrying a black cat past a glowing jack-o'lantern. The illustration is unsigned, but looks like the work of Ellen Clapsaddle. Marked on the front with the letters "LSC" around a circle with a "C" in it. The back is marked "Series 226E". Unused. Circa 1910. Condition: softening along edges, nice color.

Cute embossed Halloween post card illustrating a boy using a giant jack o'lantern to scare a grown man. The man's hair is sticking straight up and his cap is flying off! The front is marked "Copyrighted 1909 By Julius Bien & Co., N.Y.". The back is marked "'Halloween' Series Number 980". Postmarked 1909. Condition: bright coloring, some light creasing, softened edges and corners.

A sepia toned silver print of a Bedouin shepherd with his flock grazing on sparsely covered ground below a hill. In the lower right corner is the blind stamp, “American Colony/Jerusalem.” The original dates from around 1920 and this would appear to be a print of roughly that age. The Number 161 is stamped on the back. The photograph is 8 ¼ x 11 ¼ inches includes a thin margin.

Condition: excellent...

An authentic document signed by Gov. Alfred E Smith (NY) attesting to the fact that as requested by the Governor of Massachusetts he "surrendered" Fred W. Simmons, a fugitive from justice Dated August 17, 1927 . Smith's signature is in the lower right corner - it is also signed by counsel. The paper is folded and curled at the bottom edge; there are also two small puncture marks in the upper right corner.

Original faded green ink pen signature and dedication by the famous heavyweight boxing champion and cultural icon of the 1920's, JACK DEMPSEY (1895-1983). The dedication reads "To the Old Boy himself my friend John Early Best Wishes Jack Dempsey Nov 22 -22 Memphis. Tenn", all written on top of a sepia-toned photo of the champ in his boxing days...

Framed original vintage 1920's Lake View Brand label, for Pajaro Valley apples of California. The fruit was packed and shipped by Franich Brothers of Watsonville, Santa Cruz County (near Monterey). The label was printed by Olsen Lithography of San Francisco. Measures 13 1/2" by 15" in attractive gray weathered wood framing. Professionally framed (not examined out of frame). A very decorative item in excellent condition...

A framed PAIR of hand-colored vintage early 20th century photographs of the scenic Pikes Peak area of Colorado, one titled in pencil in margin "Rainbow Falls Manitou, Colo." and the other "A Glimpse of Pikes Peak--Colo.", both pencil signed "Photo-Craft" at lower right margin. Measurements are 9 1/2" by 4 3/4" (photos) and 17 1/2" by 13 1/2" in identical gold frames with green double mat. There is a bit of brownish discoloration in the margin of the waterfall image, as shown...

He became emperor in 1926 and died in 1989. Add the 12 year to 1926 that translate the map dating to 1938. A typed letter on the stationery of famous American novelist, playwright, short story writer EDNA FERBER (1885-1968), dated February 13, 1937, signed in ink by Ferber. It is addressed to a Miss Janet Cohn of Park Avenue, New York, and reads: "Dear Miss Cohn/You wrote to me about a possible dramatization of THE AFTERNOON OF A FAUN. Has the young author ever done any playwriting, or is this his first attempt? Would you be good enough to let me know a little more about him...

Unsigned hand-tinted photograph of a stream/pond scene. Image size is 5 7/8 by 3 3/4 inches, mat size is 9 5/8 by 7 5/8 inches. Framed size is 10 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. Condition is good with a water stain on left side of mat near frame, small white spot on mat in upper right of image. Pre-1940, original frame and backing, very minor damage to lower right frame corner. Horizontal coloration difference is due to lighting when taking photo of framed work, not a flaw.

Here is an original extradition writ that empowers Williaim H.Shields to "take and receive from proper authorities ...Cecil H. Kurth" Dated Oct 23, 1936 with Mayor Curley's Signature below a seal.The back of the document testfies to the transfer. (William is spelled incorrectly on the front page.)
