A Mashiko ware tea bowl (chawan) by Hamada Shoji. The bowl is glazed in a style known as kaki yu or persimmon color glaze which is often seen in Mashiko wares. Hamada Shoji along with Yanagi Muneyoshi and Barnard Leech were part of the mingei movement in the late 20th century. The movement emphasized the simple minimalist beauty found in daily objects made by unknown artists. Offered is this beautiful Dale Chihuly three-piece sea-form 'Persian' set (not sure if it is a stand-alone set or part of a bigger set). Polished pontils on very light glass. The biggest piece is 10 1/2 inches long. Except for a minor chip (see last picture), the set is in great condition. Unsigned (if it was part of a bigger set, perhaps, one piece of the set, the largest, was signed, as is/was typical of Chihuly).

Mirror imaged pair of Chinese planters with attached bases painted. These tapered square planters have a design of birds and flowers on opposite sides with writing and a red seal and on the adjacent sides a poem along with additional two red seals. Painted in white on the outside with a slightly orange peel ground effect. The insides are lightly glazed. The bases are recessed with the corner mounts left un-glazed. These planters are quite heavy.
