This porcelain covered box was produced in Hungary by Herend between 1950 and 1970. It has an artist’s signature on the bottom. The diameter of the box is 4 1/2 inches and it is 3 3/4 inches high. Fine LARGE Glazed Stoneware Studio Pottery Jar - Malcolm Pepper
This large and impressive stoneware jar was made by Malcolm Pepper (1937 - 1980) during the 1970s. It is "heavily-potted" and attractively decorated. Looking inside shows it was thrown in two sections, luted together at the widest part of the body. The outer surface coated in a finely-crackled transparent glaze that has a hint of green. The inner surface coated in a dark iron glaze.

A lovely signed "Hand Made in Greece Ikaros Pottery B420" with a small 4 at the bottom. In excellent condition though the rim has a slight imperfection original to the piece that is not noticeable except to the touch. The piece measures 8" (h) x 7" (w).
The Ikaros factory was located in Rhodes,Greece and ceased production in 1988.
He wears a clown's outfit of light-blue. He sits on a barrel, evidently singing while he plays his own accompaniment on an accordion. His light-brown hair is swept back from his face in a cascade of curls which reaches his collar.
