A Japanese woodblock print titled "Nikko Sacred Bridge"by renowned artist Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949). Inscription and red seal in bottom corner. Born in 1870 near Hamamatsu City (Shizuoka Prefecture) with the name"Sahei." Koitsu moved to Tokyo at the age of fifteen. He had planned to apprentice with Matsuzaki, a carver for the artist Kobayashi Kiyochika, but instead, he became Kiyochika's apprentice and moved into his home to study art and print design...

This large and wonderful high-quality Japanese porcelain vase has orange and blue tree peony flowers with yellow and white applied jewelling and gold highlights. It is in a myriad of blue colours with subtle gradations and shading and it has a gold rim and gold leaf veins. It has the Mt. Fuji mark used from 1900-20 and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs...

The background there is mountains with pagodas the sides have flying birds with landscapes. The box has wear as seen in images. A Japanese sooted bamboo boat-shaped basket designed for flower arrangements. The ship form represents a treasure ship (takarabune). The takarabune is a mythical ship piloted through the heavens by the Seven Lucky Gods carrying celestial treasures. In this case, some of earth's most beautiful treasures: its flowers. Originally, a ceramic container would be placed inside to accommodate the flower arrangement. This basket is still very usable having sturdy construction with no apparent breaks...

Superb and unique modeling done in ittobori (one cut) style more typical for wood carvings from Hida Province and in that instant producing amazingly modernist sculptures...

Japanese Kutani Porcelain Covered Jar, Kutani porcelain covered jar with 2 vignettes of landscape against a rust ground with gilt accents together with a Nippon (?) porcelain covered jar- floral motif on white with green and turquoise borders, good condition. The Kutani jar stands 6 1/4 inches high and second item's height at 7 1/2 inches.

An interesting modern, abstract koro. The compressed sphere with elliptical, off centered opening. A warm, brown temmoku glaze with darker brown glaze dripping from the top and stopping in controlled fashion above a well - continuing to form the unglazed foot in ogee fashion. An artist seal (three or four stylized Kanji characters within an oval) is impressed into the concave base near the foot rim. Very good condition. Some burnt on kiln residue on the foot goes to 'wabi'...

Pair of Japanese Meiji wood block printed Ukiyoe Books , wonderful printing each book has a double color cover. Each signed in fairly good condition for the age. We used the Samurai cover to make a line of greeting cards one is included in sale. 7 by 4.35" the book with the Geisha has worm damage through cover.
