Round tea bowl of more or less circular shape on a bamboo node foot. Fine cream-colored stoneware with decoration in the form of an abstracted character in slightly raised slip relief on opposite sides of the bowl. The bowl is covered in a light gray glaze on the inside, the outside is covered in a bright copper red glaze, turned brown along the foot.

No potter’s mark, but the bowl has strong resemblances to works by Kawai Kanjiro (1890-1966)...

Huge old Japanese doll, Showa period depicts a Bijin Geisha courtesan in a pose, performing traditional hat dance with six hats. Beautifully hand-painted silk face, wearing large hat, her hair adorned in front and sides with hair pins and hair ornaments. She is elaborately dressed in a gold brocade, red silk kimono, woven with flowers and leaves with a contrasting gold brocade, dark brown silk dangling obi, patterned with various woven Japanese samurai family’s crests (Mons)...

Knitted bag made of asa (hemp or ramie) and kakishibu (persimon tannin) is coated with. It has mending parts, however, in good condition. It was used by a mountain worker. The first half of the 20th century. W:39cm, L:36cm

The overall measurement is 22 inches (55.9 cm) long by 14.1 inches (35.8 cm) wide. The print is 15.35 inches (39 cm) in length by 10.3 inches (26.3 cm) wide. The seal is 6.28 mm in diameter.

The top of print is glued to a backing. The print has creases at the borders, fading, minor browning, yellowing, and discoloration (as seen in the photos)...

A folding pillow made of wood used on travel. It has two cushions made of cotton velour. Women had a largely fixed hair with wearing kimono, so this kind was used. It has carved letters "Beppu" and the scenery, so that it was made or sold there. Beppu is famous for onen, hot spa, located in Oita prefecture in Kyushu. In good condition. Solid wooden folk art carving of a giant penis. Strapped around it are red and white twisted cotton cords (imenawash) with paper strips (gohei). Penises of this size were donated to Shinto shrines dedicated to fertility, in the hopes of getting pregnant. Or they were carried around during fertility festivals.

A small four-fold iron tsuitate, damascened in gold and silver, showing a scene with a minogame turtle and two figures in a landscape. The reverse engraved with a crane among the "three friends of winter". Condition: fine, only minimal wear to gilding, base with little glue residue. Dimension opened: c. 15 x 27.3 cm.

Unusual Japanese bronze / brass haisaji - spoon for ashes from hibachi used during tea ceremony. Good design, hammered spoon part, braided wire nicely imitating cord. Comes in paulownia box with wrapping cloth, must be about 50 years old. Wonderful object in great condition, beautiful patina from use. Spoon length 8 1/2 inches, box length 9 1/4 inches.
