The mark of Ando Jubei is stamped on the bottom gilded rim of this 6.5" tall 20th century cloisonne vase. A cluster of silver wired grapes and leaves decorate the deep green ground.
Condition: Good, with only scuffing to the bottom rim, and a small indention to the upper. Also, there is a slight scratch below the grape cluster and another above the left wire tendril, too faint to photograph. The various white spots are merely light reflection.
Green case mask, mouth a beak or tube, blossoms and tufts of red hair for ears, band of red yarn across forehead. Douglas fir ruff. Kilt, wedding sash, fox skin, red Navajo-style moccasins. Body paint pink and yellow. Carries a rattle. Appears in regular katsina dance. Fewkes, 1903, Pl. Japanese Bizen figure of an ox with the rice god Daikoku on the forehead . This piece is likely a figure for home alter for the Asian zodiac year of the ox. A very unique piece with an almost deco styling and wonderful speckled clay . 7.5" by 5" by 4" please note the chip under the chin.
Framed beneath a slender sapling, a wispy figure kneels at the shrine steps hands together in prayer. Beautifully painted details performed with thick pigments on silk. Darkening Cedar trees naturally frame the calming scene. Condition is excellent and ready to display.

A charming Chinese child's padded wind hat with the face of a tiger on the front. The tiger is a fierce animal which protects children from evil. Called a wind hat because of the protection it gives to the back of the neck, this hat is made of silk and embroidered with a butterfly on each side. In good antique condition, it does have some wear. Please study photos carefully. Colors are still vivid. Circa 1910.

This is a real jade (hard stone) carving of Cicadas pendant, it is a symbol of purity in chinese culture over thousands of years, it is very nice and simple works of art.
