Large Japanese porcelain vase by Shumei Fujii, decorated with the design of white herons and pine in underglaze blue and pale green. The rest of the areas are covered with white gold (straight translation from the "title", platinum like), all hand decorated with the artist’s signature at the bottom. A nice colorless crystal and Pomona Green compote. The 6 3/4 inch tall compote has an optically ribbed colorless bowl and foot joined by a twisted Pomona Green stem. The base has a broken pontil and is signed with the block letter “Steuben” mark.

Offered is this beautiful, 'Osiris'-type art glass vase with applied handles, made most likely, by Stevens & Williams in England, around 1890. Probably the 'Pull-up' machine, invented by John Northwood (when he was Artistic Director at Stevens & Williams), was used for the zippered pattern on the vase. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall and 5 inches wide. It is in good condition. The handles on the vase fluoresce in a gentle-green coloration, typical of 19th century soda-lime glass...

Helmet mask of Janus shape, showing two busts surmounted by fierce looking faces, each one very different from the other one. The mask is made of wood covered with animal skin, with a rattan base allowing fixation to the top of the dancer's head. Beautiful dark brown glossy patina. Africa, Nigeria, Ekoi ethnic group.
