19th century Japanese Satsuma ware one half of a belt buckle decorated with cranes among flowers and leaves. Metal back stamped with the mon (crest) of the Shimazu samurai clan - they were daimyō (great lords) of the Satsuma han, which spread over Satsuma, Ōsumi and Hyūga provinces. Excellent quality painting, in superb condition. Size 1.9 inches square.

Sparsely painted with airy flower sprigs, leaving large parts of the cream-coloured crackle-glazed surface undecorated. The mouth rim with the mon (emblem) of the Itagaki (?) family. Impressed three character mark to the base and painted signature in red. Height "6¼ / 16 cm. Condition: fine.
A delicately painted earthenware Satsuma dish depicting pagodas and blossoming trees in a rocky mountain landscape. The base could be signed "Sozan". This item was made in japan during the Meiji period (1868-1911). 19th century Japanese silver and Satsuma obidome (sash ornament) with various blooming flowers with stems and leaves. Obidome is worn on an obi cord that holds the obi sash together, it is the only type of jewelry worn by Japanese women on formal occasions, and could serve as netsuke as well. Excellent quality painting, numerous color and gold enamels, in excellent condition, metal fitting on the back for an obi cord. Back is stamped with a single character GIN (silver). Diameter 1.48 inches.

A watch fob made up of 4 Satsuma decorative ceramic rounds with metal surrounds and chains. The backs of the mountings have the impressed Satsuma mark. The fob measures about 5" long, and the largest round measures about 1". The fob dates to the late 19th/early 20th Centuries. The condition is excellent/perfect. 19th century Japanese Satsuma belt buckle decorated with blooming chrysanthemums by a picnic cloth. Wonderful quality painting, generous use of gold enamel, in excellent condition.
