A Chinese jade vase, carved as a lotus leaf with a flower in one corner and a ribbon tying the leaf and its coiled trailing stalk forming the base. The composition is very attractive, the body is quite thinly carved and the stone is of celadon hue. A high quality example of Qing lapidary arts, it measures 14 cm ( 5 1/2 inches) high. Large Chinese Ming dynasty wide-mouthed globular form guan jar with short, vertical collar-like neck and wide angled mouth covered overall in a dark brown/black crackled glaze that coats the interior and ends at the base. Fine LARGE Chinese Neolithic Banpo Cord-Impressed Pottery Amphora with Oxford TL Test

This fine and incredibly ancient pottery vessel was made over 6,000 years ago during the Banpo phase (c. 4800 - 4300 BC) of the Yangshao culture in present-day Shaanxi province. This form is probably the most well-known of Banpo pottery, if not of all Chinese Neolithic pottery, and no serious collection of Chinese ceramics should be without an example!

Shallow form with brilliant turquoise color. The cavetto is molded with thirty-two chrysanthemum petal-form flutes that appear convex on the back-side of the dish and encircle the flattened base. A “China” mark is needle-incised on the base. Very good condition. Acquired 25 years ago in North Carolina from an estate that was involved with the tobacco trade in China. It is rare for a large, delicate flat-rimmed dish, such as this one, to survive without damage.
