Large early Republic Chinese cloisonne lidded box on stand that could have graced a scholar’s desk. On each side is a 5 toed Imperial yellow dragon with the dragon on the lid chasing the flaming pearl of wisdom; all against a dark sky blue ground, the contrasting yellow stand really makes this piece stand out. EXTREMELY RARE: Large and very substantial(weighs 20 troy oz.) sterling OPEN serving bowl hand made by William Spratling, Mexico, c.1931. Beautifully hand hammered, this piece measures 11" by 7" by 2 1/2" high. It has a rounded bottom and sides with beautiful handles. The sides are rounded inward and will not accept a top. The tureen measures about 9 1/4" long x 6 1/2" wide x 7" tall. The Shippo design family crest has been applied in gold on the blue panels.
