Condition: there are two old 1cm hairlines to the rim: no further damages and no restoration. 8cm (3.1 inches) high; 9cm (3.5 inches) diameter.

A rare late Ming Dynasty thickly potted jar decorated in underglaze blue with a key-fret pattern around the neck; on the shoulder a Kraak style diaper pattern encloses four circular panels, each containing a fruiting peach branch; above the foot are stylized breaking waves; the large central area is painted on each side with nine boys, at leisure, in a garden setting. "Hundred Boys" jars with very similar decoration are to be found dating to the Jiajing reign (1522-1566) but this jar was made later, probably for export, circa 1610-1625 during the reign of either the Wanli or the Tianqi emperor.
Condition - there is fritting (production glaze loss) to the rim and there are chips to the foot rim; there are two cracks to the rim which are probably firing (production) cracks and there are various cracks and glaze imperfections to the body but there are no repairs and there has been no restoration.
19cm (7.5inches) high; 19cm (7.5inches) diameter. Weight - 1.5kg (3lb 5oz).

A commemorative plaque carved with oak from the barque (three masted sailing ship) the Mary Moore which operated as a tea clipper until the end of the 19th Century. The Mary Moore was built by Stephen & Sons (Glasgow) in 1868 and was registered in Maryport, Cumberland, North West England. In 1887 she was re-fitted and her hull was clad with metal. It was presumably at this time that the plaque was crafted. Condition: it has split in two, possibly in the 19th century and is held togethet with an old staple repairs. 33cm (13 inches) diameter.

A wheel thrown transfer printed and hand painted double-handled "Loving" Chamber Pot made as a novelty wedding gift "Marrige Present", circa 1840, in either Sunderland or Staffordshire. AA carved soapstone figure depicting a reclining Scholar; holding a fan in his right hand. This item was possibly made as an object for the Scholar's table and was made in China in the Qing dynasty, probably during the second half of the 19th Century (circa 1850-1900). Condition: a 2.5cm area appear to have been chipped away (in front of the fan and below his right knee)- please view enlargements 5, 6 & 7; and there are small spots of red paint in places. 6.3cm (2.5 inches) high; 7.6cm (3 inches) long.

A large heavy bottle vase depicting two confronting five clawed dragons amongst clouds and flames and above breaking waves. The base carries the six character seal mark of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795)but possibly made later during the 19th Century. It arrived in the UK before 1910 and is from an old West Country estate. Condition - the neck has been reduced and polished. There are no chips or cracks and there has been no restoration but there are surface scratches. Height 23cm (9 inches); 24cm (9.5 inches) wide. Weight 2.6 kg (5.73lb).

An unusually large "Ivory" coloured moulded Bakelite (Urea Formaldehyde) wall plaque designed by William McMillan RA. These plaques were manufactured by De la Rue Plastics and were presented by the War Office to local Savings Committees in appreciation of their success in "Salute the Soldier Week" in 1944. Some are still to be found in public buidigs throughout the U.K.. For a similar commemmorative wall plaque please view cat. no. EPH 4622 in the collection of the Imperial War Museum, London. Condition: exceptionally good - one small 1.5cm production flaw to the left of the rifle but not visible on the reverse. 58cm (22.8 inches) high; 35cm (13.75 inches) wide.

A rare porcelain tea bowl and saucer painted with the "bird on the branch" pattern in under glaze blue and decorated with over glaze iron red and gold in imitation of "Chinese Imari" style. This item was made in the Shaws Brow factory of the Liverpool company, Philip Christian, circa 1765-1778. Condition: excellent - no chips or cracks and very little wear to the over glaze decoration. Bowl: 4.5cm (1.75 inches) high; 8.5cm (3.3 inches) diameter. Saucer: 13cm (5.1 inches) diameter.

A large, and heavy, Stick Stand, ( for holding walking sticks and umbrellas), profusely decorated, in Satsuma style, with a panapoly of historical scenes enclosed within elaborately enamelled textile (?) patterns and surmounted by a large coiled dragon amongst stylized clouds. This item was made in Japan for export to Europe or America during the late 19th or early 20th Century. This item was made in the Dehua kilns, Fujian province, southern China, in the 17th Century, probably circa 1670-1680, early in the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). A finely painted water colour , with gold leaf overlay, depicting a scene from the 11th Century classic "The Tale of Genji" written by noblewoman and lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu. This item was made in Japan in the 19th Century during either the late Edo or the Meiji period (1868-1911). Condition: there are small marks on the paper and some losses to the gold leaf which predate the framing of this picture during the 1920s or 1930s. Frame: 32.5cm (12.75 inches) wide; 29cm (11.4 inches) high. Painting: 23.5cm (9.25 inches) wide; 20cm (7.9 inches) high.

An extremely finely and delicately painted eggshell porcelain bowl by Wang Yijun. The poem on the reverse side reads "Wen ji qi wu xiang feng nian, fu gui rong hua ren ping an. Wang Yijun zuo" which can translate as "Practice the sword while hearing roosters (meaning work hard) and enjoy the affluence of the year; wish people wealth, prosperity and safety. Made by Wang Yijun"The seal mark to the base reads "Jingdezhen Zuo" - Made in Jingdezhen. Wang Yijun (1904 - 1989)was born in Anhui, China. A student of Wu Ai in his early years, he specialised in “flowers and birds” painting. He adapted Lang Shining’s style, with a touch of traditional famille rose technique. His works are usually delicate and vivid, with the elegance of the court school. In 1959 Wang Yijun was conferred the title “Ceramic Artist” by the Jingdezhen Municipal Government. In 2011, the late artist was given the Official award of “China’s Master of Ceramic Art”. A Chinese porcelain snuff bottle, attractively painted in underglaze blue and red , with a Ming dynasty style scene depicting many boys at play.The green stone stopper has an ivory spatula. The cyclically dated iron red inscription can be translated as "Year of Ding Wei (1907 or possibly 1847), for my snuff taking 'elder brother's' appreciation; presented by your snuff taking 'younger brother' Ya Quan. Condition: there is a long, stable, light hairline crack running down one side; no further damages and no restoration.

A very rare and unusual lotus form bowl on three lotus bud and seed pod feet very finely painted to the interior with vibrant Famille Rose enamels depicting bats and lotus amongst multiple sylized flower scrolls on a turquoise ground. This item was made in China during the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor (1796-1820) or late in the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795). Condition: excellent - no damages and no repairs or restoration. 7.8cm (3 inches) high; 21cm (8.3 inches) across.

A rare "famille rose" dragon and phoenix decorated bowl with an inscription dedicating it as a 60th birthday gift from Ma Tao Yu to Xiong Gong - otherwise known as Chen Zhao Ying (1888-1977), who was a senior military leader of the Guo Min-dang (Kuomintang) between the years 1911 to 1932 and who was very close to Sun Zhong-shan and Jiǎng Jièshí (Chiang Kai-shek). From 1944 to 1948, Chen Zhao Ying was the chief of the Jiangxi Province Guo Min-dang Party committee and the minister of Audit for Anhui and Jiangxi Provinces. The bowl, dedicated as an advance birthday gift, is dated Autumn, 1946. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 12.4cm (4.8 inches) diameter. 1946年 民国 龙凤团纹祝寿碗 一件粉彩龙凤团纹祝寿碗。为一名为马陶余的同乡晚辈送与时任皖赣监察使的陈肇英60大寿之礼。上书:“雄公监察使六秩华诞誌庆”、“寿世寿心”、“乡晚马陶余敬献——丙戌年秋月“。 品相:完好。无损伤,无修复。直径12.4厘米。 注:陈 肇英(1888—1977),字雄夫,浙江浦江古塘村人。浙江省浦江县中山中学创办人。 辛亥革命时,参加浙联军光复南京战役。1916年,发动浙江独立,反对袁世凯和浙江都督朱瑞,并赴上海见孙中山。1918年,通电拥护西南护法政府,任援 闽浙军第一师中将师长兼前敌总指挥。次年,与蒋介石结为把兄弟。1922年,任以孙中山为非常大总统的护法政府参谋。1926年1月,被选为中国国民党第 二届中央执行委员会候补委员。蒋介石四一二反革命政变后,递补为国民党中央执行委员,连任至第六届。1928年起,任国民政府立法院立法委员,后兼立法院 军事委员会委员长。1934—1942年间,任闽浙监察使。1935年起,兼任中国国民党福建省党部主任委员。1944年,改任中国国民党江西省党部主任 委员、皖赣监察使。1948年任监察院监察委员。1949年6月去台湾,曾兼任中国国民党中央纪律委员会委员、中央评议委员等。著有《八十自述》。

A carved blown moulded glass snuff bottle painted on the inside with a mountain landscape and on the other side a garden scene with potted plants, lingzhi fungi and a weather sculpted rock. This item was made in China during the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition: there is no stopper and there are flaws inside the clear glass neck which were possibly caused during the making of the aperture. 6.1cm (2.3 inches) high.

A small pair of finely potted U-shaped Chinese porcelain wine cups painted to the exterior in underglaze blue with stylized scrolls of flowering lotus above a band of Ruyi heads over a narrow foot. Above the lotus flower heads are eight Tibetan style Buddhist Lanca (Lantsa) characters. On each base of each, painted in under glaze blue within a double square, is the six character reign mark of the Ming dynasty Chenghua emperor (1465-1487) but these cups were made later, possibly in the early 20th Century during the Republic period (1911-1949). For a pair of Yongzheng Imperial wine cups with very similar under glaze blue decoration but bearing additional over glaze polychrome Doucai enamels please see Lot 203, Sotheby's Hong Kong, April 25, 2004. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 5cm (2 inches) high; 5.8cm (2.3 inches) diameter.

A finely carved and moulded Zisha clay stoneware teapot with a Tang dynasty style marbed band and with applied leaf and Prunus blossom decoration. This item was made in the vicinity of the city of Yixing, Jiangsu province, in the Yangze River Delta region of eastern China. The base carries the impressed sealmark of its maker Kuai Xin Long born 25th May 1964. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 18cm (7 inches) long; 11.5cm (4.5 inches) high.

A small heavy porcelain jar (without its original cover) finely decorated with stylized peony scrolls in green and iron red against a yellow enamel ground and with four cartouches depicting flowers, insects and precious objects painted with additional overglaze blue and aubergine enamels. Although painted in early 1th Century Kangxi style this item was made in China, for export, during the late 19th or early 20th Century, probably during the reign of the Guangxu emperor, (1875-1908). Condition: Excellent there are no damages and there has been no restoration. 12.4cm (4.8 inches) high; 13cm (5.1 inches) wide.
