Fragment of Edo kosode, womans kimono whose ground cloth is rinzu (figured silk). It has embroidered flowers and kata-kanoko which is katazome (stencil-resist-dyeing) imitating small round shibori pattern called "kanoko-shibori". It has wear and holes. Edo period. 31cm x 26cm Framed with paper.

Yu-age which is made of indigo dyed cotton with tsutsuhaki auspicious motif. There was a custom in San-in district when married daughter had a baby, her parents prepared items such as yu-age (towel), ko-oi-obi (baby sling), mutsuki (diaper) and ashi-fuki (foot towel). They are called "mago goshirae". This is a yu-age used when a newborn baby had the first bath. It has red color in the corner dyed with akane (madder) or benibana (safflower) as red color was believed to expel evil...

Hagi-isho juban made of many kinds of recycled silk cloth from old kimono, which are: silk crepe with katazome, shibori, itajime shibori (board clamp-dyeing), plain silk, stripes woven of wild silk. The dyes are all vegetable and the lining is benibana dyed plain weave silk. This kind of yose-gire juban was worn at the Bon Dance in Nishimonai in Akita prefecture.
