Rare and large bronze shrine. The central figure is a Jina or Tirthankara. He is surrounded by small Jina's on the back plate.
Each of the 24 Tirthankaras is represented by an animal or a symbol. There is an engraved animal on the foot of this shrine, but it is hard to distinguish which animal it is. The shrine is in an excellent condition, all three parts belong together, there are no repairs. It has a clean appearance due to the daily worshipping and washing tradition in Jainism. The Vung Tau sank in 1690 on its way from China to Batavia, Indonesia. The cargo was meant for Amsterdam. The wreck was found in the early 90's and it's content was auctioned at Christie's Amsterdam in 1992. The auction became a craze and the porcelain ffetched many times more than estimated. This vase was bought from an antique shop in 1992 for the equivalent of 1700 euros.
Lavishly inlaid with engraved mother of pearl. Dimensions: 30,5 x 18 x 11 cm.
Exceptional good condition with almost all the inlay still intact, only some minor pieces missing. The wood has some age cracks and one of the long sides is a bit crooked. The brass corner pieces are all original.
Lovely fluted porcelain teapot decorated in the Imari palette with butterflies and flowers. H. 12,5 cm. This teapot is in in excellent condition: original lid, no cracks, chips or repairs, only minor ware to the gilding.

A rare tomb gift from the Song Dynasty, made of red pottery, covered with green, brown and yellow glaze. The crawling position probably shows that this lady is worshipping the deceased person. Length 17 cm, height 12 cm. Condition: the hands restored, glaze loss. Please refer to the pictures.
Seated on a lotus throne, guarded by two attendants. On the back of the stand there is an inscription : This is a statue (or carving) or Kwanyin, for Mr. Wang (??)'s wife, Mrs. Chao (??).
2nd day, 4th month Daoguang 10th year (1830 A.D.).
Condition: usual age wear, loss of gilding, the ribbon from the crown at the right side is missing. H. 23 cm.

Made of painted wood, depicting husband and wife, seated on a chair. Most probably from the Hunan Province. The lady still has a small parcel with offerings in her back. We opened it up and found a seahorse, pieces of stone and mica and other materials. H. 27 and 29,5 cm. Condition: heavily eaten by woodworms, which adds to the charme. The figures were treated by the former owner and are perfectly clean.
Jambupati type (Buddha in royal attire). Shan State. H. 20,5 cm ( 24 cm. incl. stand). Condition: part of the pedestal is missing, mi or chips and age wear. Overall in good condition. Please have a close look at the pictures.
Made of grey pottery, covered with a white layer of paint, decorated with bright red and black pigments. Figures of this very large size are rare and were only made for royalty and high nobility. The figure was made in two parts, the head was connected with the body by a wooden pin, which is of course now gone and replaced by a carboard roll. Condition: wear to the painting, the figure is covered in soil, traces of plant roots. A thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla confirms the age of this item and is included in the sale. The front of the pendant is decorated with 3 figures in a garden, one holding a fan and one holding a parasol. The text on the back of these pendants is usually about protection and good fortune for the wearer.

There are holes on 3 sides of the pendant. There is a hallmark on the top side.

The acid test shows a silver content of ca. 90 %.

Rare purse , made of leather, brass and silver, with lotus, sea creatures and makala design. Inlaid with coral. Dimensions: the purse alone 13x9,5 cm, including leather strap and sash 45 cm. Condition: very good age wear and patina, one of the sea creatures is missing its tail.
A rare and complete group of an ox and carriage in grey pottery with remains of polychrome. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907). The result of the thermoluminescence test by Kotalla is consistent with the dating of this lot.
The report is included in the sale. Dimensions: the carriage H. 32 cm, L. 23 cm, the ox H. 18 cm, L. 23 cm. Condition: very good, no visible repairs, although repairs on early pottery are quite common and accepted.

In the shape of two dragons chasing the flaming pearl. High grade silver with enamelled details, 11 smaller coral beads, diameter 9 mm. And one large coral bead, diameter 15 mm. The bracelet is 9 cm wide and 7,5 cm tall. The widest inner size is 6,5 cm. China, late 19th/early 20th century.

Necklace made of 13 carnelian and 14 enamelled silver beads, each ca. 2 cm. long. There are 52 small silver beads between the large ones. At the bottom two dragons chasing the flaming pearl. Hanging on 2 lingzi hooks there is a silver pendant in the shape of a boy riding a qilin, a fertility symbol. At the bottom of the pendant 2 turquoise beads and 2 carnelian flowers. The pendant without the beads measures 8 x 7 cm. The complete necklace is ca. 31 cm. high, the strand is ca. 52 cm long. Please not the very fine engraving on both sides of the pendant. High quality silver. Acid tested. Late 19th/early 20th. century.
