This porcelain oyster plate was produced France by Haviland & Co. Limoges. The mark was used between 1876-1880. It measures 8 3/4 inches in diameter. The plate has 6 wells with salt compartment in the center. The decorations are a factory transfer that is hand colored. The ground color is mauve. An assortment of sea creatures and plant life are scattered around the surface of the plate. The colors are vivid and the shape is interesting. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced at Meissen around 1800. It has the first quality under glaze blue crossed swords with a star under it. The saucer is 5 3/8 inches in diameter and is 1 1/4 inches deep. The cup is 2 3/4 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. the ground color is cobalt blue. The cup has a reserve with a portrait of Abelard and the saucer has a portrait of Heloise. There was a story of two lovers in 12th century France, Heloise and Abelard, who were denied permission to marry. They eloped and married against her father’s wishes. Heloise was beaten by her father and sent to live in a convent the rest of her life. It is a sad story portrayed in literature and art. Here is Meissen’s interpretation of the lovers’ tale of woe on porcelain. The exquisite portraits of the man and woman are framed in embossed gold. There are other gold accents and gold trim. This is a true artistic treasure. Condition: Light wear to gilding on rim of cup.

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Maunfactory around 1770. The factory used only the under glaze blue scepter marking at that time. The saucer measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter and is 1 1/2 inches deep. The cup is 2 inches tall and 3 1/8 inches in diameter. Colorful, hand painted Watteau scenes decorate both pieces. 18th century lovers are spending time in the countryside engrossed in conversation. The borders are decorated with a green fish scale pattern punctuated with a knot of flowers here and there. The handle is accented with a feathering of purple enamel. The rims are trimmed with gold. This is a splendid example of an early KPM tea cup and saucer. Condition: There is slight wear to gilding on rims.

This porcelain casket or box was produced in France by an unknown Paris decorator in the late 19th century. It has a painted marking and is artist signed, P. Roche. The casket measures 9 1/8 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide and 4 inches tall. It has gold colored metal frame and hinge. The lid is hand painted with lovers embracing, seated in a landscape of trees, a lake and a building in the background. There is raised, ornate hand gilding framing this scene. The front panel has a large spray of vibrantly colored flowers framed in raised gold. Two side panels have similar flower bouquets. The back panel is richly gilded with elaborate hand gilding. The box is painted inside on all sides with beautiful flowers. There are 4 graceful feet supporting the casket. Condition: There is slight wear to some gilding. It is about 95% intact. The casket is in otherwise excellent condition.

This porcelain basket or nut dish was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory in the 1890s. It has the red orb and blue scepter markings. The basket measures 4 1/2 inches long, 3 1/4 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep. The basket is delicately reticulated and has molded rosettes around the border. There are handles in the shape of branches on each side. Hand painted sprigs of flowers and a butterfly are scattered inside the basket. The outside has sprays of tiny flowers. There are gold and blue accents on the side ribs of reticulation. Condition: Excellent, first quality.

There are reserves containing 4 vignettes of lovers in garden landscapes. They alternate with the cut out floral pattern similar to the type Meissen used. The center of the plate has a large Watteau scene with couples in 18th century dress. The painting is done in fine detail and bright colors. There is a gold border surrounding the central scene, dotted with raised turquoise jeweled beading. There are gilded details and gold trim. It is highly unusual to find a Thieme Dresden plate so ornately decorated. Condition: Excellent

The glaze is very smooth and ivory-like. It is decorated with raised enamel beads or jewels. There are flower form ornaments with a tiny dot of turquoise in the middle. Swags of orange beads are joined together with raised gold ornaments. There is delicate gold decoration inside the mouth of the ewer. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. This ewer strikes a regal pose with its unique shape and elaborate design. Condition: Excellent

They are framed in elegant hand gilding. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. Condition: Excellent, first quality, no chips, no cracks, no repairs, no wear.

This porcelain tea cup, saucer and dessert plate was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1898. The date cipher indicates this year. The plate is 6 3/4 inches in diameter. The saucer is 5 3/8 inches in diameter. The cup is 2 1/4 inches tall with a diameter of 3 3/8 inches. The set is made of fine, white bone china that is highly translucent. The ground color is blush, shading from light peach to beige. The hand enameled decoration of chrysanthemums and foliage is done in high relief and enamel coloring. The chrysanthemum blooms are nearly encrusted. It is amazing to run your fingers across them, feeling the petals. The edges of each piece are raised scrolls painted light olive green. These scrolls are highlighted with gold. This pattern was a very successful combination of texture, colors and design. It would be a prized possession for any collector. Condition: There is slight crazing on the cup only seen with magnification.

They are playing musical instruments, playing cards and singing. They are painted in fine detail with bright colors on a gold background. The borders are trimmed with intricate gilding in the Royal Vienna tradition. The saucer is embellished with elaborate, raised gilding. There is a lion’s face on the handle. This is a delightful depiction of children in the early 19th century. Condition: But for a tiny bit of wear in the well of the saucer, this set is excellent.
