Beautifully sculpted and cast bronze of Bacchus, the God of wine (Le Vin) dancing and reaching down toward a child or baby faun, by noted French artist Louis Holweck (1861-1935). Very rare chess set, hand made, created in the 1970s by Magda and Andrzej Nowakowscy in Warsaw Poland. This was one of approximately 20 sets made, and all depicted various battle scenes, some with figures identified as Saxons, Vikings, or Naval boats and figures. Large and finely inlaid mixed metal pair of Ikebana bronze vases, Meiji era, finely inlaid silver over bronze surface, cartouches with mixed metal birds, flowers, foliage, wonderful to find a matching pair. Finely inlaid silver on iron box, with four round flattened feet. Box measures 3 5/8" x 2" x 2 1/4" high. Top decorated with yan-yang symbol, with gold overlay on silver, amidst scrolling, geometric designs and fretwork borders. Both front and back have deer in round cartouche, with similar inlay in background, gold plating on figures of deer. From Kashmir, this copper kashkul, or beggar's bowl, is enameled with two shades of blue and white, is incised along the edges with scrolling designs and the entire copper areas are gilded. The body of the bowl has heavy repousse designs, with enamel in the recessed areas. The two ends of the bowl are decorated with the heads of serpents, their bodies partially wrapped around the bowl. A large and impressive censer, this bronze and cloisonne measures 24" high, approximately 14" wide, and is heavy weight bronze. The finial on the lid has a foo dog or lion, and the base has three mythical beasts as supports for the body of the censer. The two handles are stylized foo lions also. The cloisonne is multi colored, with a base tone of turquoise, with geometric designs in the background...

Measuring 10" high, and 13" at the widest point on the flared lip, this unusual Oribe vessel is likely a hibachi. Round at the bottom, the lip flares outward in a square shape, and the drip glaze is typical of Oribe wares, with rich flowing colors from dark olive green to deep turquoise, with flecks and spots of black, with lighter blue sections. The slip is of a creamy color, over stoneware, and there are applied motifs in iron oxide on the slip...

This is an exceptionally fine yoni, of great size and beautifully crafted. It measures 22" long, 9" wide, and is 6 1/2" high. Heavy weight, 10 pounds. The workmanship is excellent, all hand hammered and sculpted in perfect form. The top is adorned with raised ridges and lines, and the tail is perfectly flared. The center area is recessed, with a deep channel that extends to the end of the yoni. The yoni is a ceremonial vessel in the Hindu culture, and represents the Goddess Shakti...

Very fine and rare Japanese Edo era Hasami Bako, or storage/traveling box, measuring roughly 12" wide (including brass hanging hooks on sides), 5 1/2" deep, and 6 1/8" high. It dates to the late Edo era, some time between 1780 and 1850. The top is slightly domed, as is visible in some photos, and all edges and corners are decorated with incised brass metal sections, and two U shaped handles are on both ends, and can stand upright, as would be the carrying position for a larger trunk.
