An antique Japanese Tansu chest in 2 sections from the Mikuni region of Japan. Functioned as a merchant chest (Choba Tansu) for store record keeping and inventory storage. Constructed of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware with Hikute style handles.

Upper section has 2 sliding drawers with a split level removable shelf and three drawers. Bottom section has four large drawers. Side slates provide structural strength and visual design.

An antique Japanese Tansu chest made for Kimono storage and constructed out of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite style handles. Two drawer design perfectly suited as a side chest or low dresser.

Chinese antique green and white nephrite jade pendant. Carved in rectangular form with a boy with lotus and fish on one side and a pomegranate and lingzhi on the other. Two small piercings at the top to allow for hanging cord. Bright apple green striations.

Antique Japanese carved Buddhist figure with flaming nimbus, standing on a rock in noble garb and holding a sword. Carved of wood, painted with bright colors and gold details.

An antique Japanese zushi (small Buddhist shrine) with Fudo Myo-o and attendants. One of the five myo-o or Lords of Light, Fudo Myo-o sits with sword in hand, the flames of his nimbus swirling around him. Fudo's name means "the unmovable or unshakable one". He is a fierce deity who guards the Law of Buddhism from the forces of evil.
Carved of wood, colorfully painted and with gold and black lacquer.

A rare antique Japanese Tansu chest called Kodansu. Its purpose was for use as a merchant's side chest where trade records, documents, papers and business tools were stored. The front and case were made using burl Keyaki (Zelkova) wood with Hinoki (Cypress) wood completing the rest of the chest. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery with hardened wood nails. Hand forged iron hardware including the Mokko style handles.

An antique Japanese small Kimono Tansu chest made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cyrptomeria) woods. All original Urushi lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware including the Hirute style handles. Four drawers of varying sizes and a hinged door that secured 2 small drawers where valuables were kept. This would make a great side chest or a compact dresser for a small bedroom.

Antique Japanese pair of jingasa, hats worn by samurai or foot soldiers. Lacquered black and marked with the mon (family crest) of the Ogasawara clan. The Ogasawara were descended from Seiwa Genji. They acted as shugo, governing Shinamo Provence during the Sengoku Period (1185-1600). This pair of hats dates to the Edo Period (1608-1867) when the Ogasawara were daimyo (feudal lords) of territories on Kyushu.
The underside of each jingasa has gold leaf and remnants of padding.

A rare antique Japanese Sakata Funa Tansu (Captain's chest for uniform storage) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Kiri (Paulownia) woods. All original Urushi lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware including the Hirute exterior handles and the Warabite interior handles. Lift-off security door opens to two drawers where the captain's uniform would have been stored. Fully framed in iron.

Antique Japanese bronze censer in the form of a monkey. Elongated right arm is holding a ring attached to a chain and another ring for hanging. The monkey's left arm hangs by his side and it's tail wraps around. There is a round door in the back for inserting incense. The smoke would come out an opening in the monkey's mouth. Charming expression. Deep patina.

Antique Japanese Musha-ningyo doll of a samurai warrior, the hero Minamoto Yoshitsune. He is seated and wears an elaborate kabuto with dragon meadate. His quiver and arrows are strapped to his back and his two swords are intact. His clothing is made of silk brocade and his armor is metal and lacquer. His face is made of gofun (polished oyster shell powder), his features are finely painted and his eyes are made of glass.

Burmese Bronze Buddha Cutting Hair Ceremony Triangular base with open apron, After crossing the River Anoma, the future Buddha removes his precious princely dress, with his sword he cuts a lock of hair. Worn gilt over thick copper pair of Buddhist ritual vessels, one with a single spout and movable handle, the other with double spouts and a long footed handle bisecting the middle opening of the container, the design has etched bamboo, pine, cranes and turtle on body, the handle has scrolling vines done with impressed dots, the traditional stylized crane of the Nichiren sect is on the medallion. A pair of hanging scrolls by Kano Dohaku Chikanobu (1772-1821), a famous Edo period painter, 5th head of the Surugadai branch of the Kano School. In 1813 he received the honorary title of "Okurakyo-Hogen" (law of the eye).The pair contains an image of three geese set near a marshland with reeds.
