A large Buddhist scroll painting of the Amitabha triad where Amitabha is attended by Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta. The bodhisattvas are adorned with elaborate accessories often seen in images of bodhisattvas. The Buddha, is wearing a red garment painted with medallion like patterns to make the cloth appear like brocades. Age: 20th century. Size: height 111.5" width 54.5"

Japanese framed print by Mayumi Oda (1941-present) of a crane, titled "New Year" and signed in pencil. Mayumi is widely loved for her female empowering works, many of which are currently part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and more.

Gorgeous scenic painting by Chinese artist Tsui Chian Tsai of a small town amidst a beautiful mountainous landscape, with a murky, grey sky and delicate white speckles of paint to represent the falling snow. Two large boats are returning to shore, covered in snow from their long trip. Very detailed work with a lot of realism, the artist truly captured the feeling of an extremely cold climate. A fascinating letter composed by the noted Chinese artist, Xu Beihong (1895-1953). The letter is addressed to a Mr. Fu Wen and discusses about an exhibition and several works of art that Xu Beihong was expressing his congratulations to the person he was writing to. Chinese jadeite pendant carved in the shape of a gourd on vine with smaller gourd on one side, a squirrel runs up the other side, made of lovely green jadeite with 18K white gold setting. Size of jadeite: 4.6 x 2 x 0.9 cm

A pair of Japanese wooden carvings of the Nio, or wrathful guardians to the Buddha. While Buddhism beliefs are typically pacifist, the Nio justified physical force in order to defend against evil and are usually found on either side of a temple door. The Nio called Misshaku Kongo or Agyo keeps his mouth open to represent the first sound in the Sanskrit language "a", symbolizing birth and overt violence...

Chinese cloisonne horse decorated with archaic geometric designs often seen in Chinese bronzes from the Republic period with motifs of chrysanthemums and phoenixes. The saddle is decorated with a scrolling vine design with chrysanthemums recalling central Asian motifs. The bridle is decorated with small plum blossoms. Age: 20th century. Japanese contemporary ceramic dish with blue and gray flecking designs on one side, and a large red glazed area on the other. Interesting gradient orange/tan crackle glaze inside, and engraved signature on the foot. Size: 6" height, 14" length

Japanese contemporary ceramic vase for ikebana, or flower arrangements. It has a very interesting, gritty textural surface and color scheme of blues, purples, and brownish-greens. The interior of the vase is slightly ribbed with vertical lines going down its sides, with a yellow/brown/green and blue glaze. Signature on bottom. Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase. Showa period, circa 1930-1950. The body of the vase is red with a pink chrysanthemum amongst white peonies with a green orchid. The red color, known as akasuke, is difficult to produce. Only the most skilled artisans can create the rich ruby red color and the transparent element where the motif on the vase shows through the glaze. Excellent condition, no scratches or dents. Manufacturer's stamp on the base. It measures 8.5" tall, 2.5" opening, base 2.75" base...

Japanese print by sosaku-hanga artist Haku Maki (1924-2000), titled "Work 74-7". It shows the profile of a tree with many long, twisting branches in a beautiful navy blue color against a metallic silver background. The outlines of the tree are embossed, giving it more depth and contrast. Numbered 83/153 and signed in pencil, with Maki's red signature stamp in the corner. Framed. Vintage Japanese conch shell horn, known as a horagai or a jinkai depending on its usage. The horagai has been used in Buddhist practice for over one thousand years. The jinkai was used as a battle signal by samurai trumpeters called kai yaku. The shell has a bronze mouthpiece and decorative purple tassles. Early 20th century Size: 6" height, 16.5" length,

Huanghuali altar table decorated with carved decorations. The altar table has a square maize design repeated around the base of the table. The legs are decorated with carved panels of dragons climbing through clouds. The Huanghuali table top is very beautiful with strong grain patterns. Late Republic period. The size measures 33.5" tall 64" long 16" deep.

Chinese porcelain dish with garden scene. Three figures sit around a table eating fruit while a fourth figure stands, gazing at something. The party is seated under hanging lamps. The border of the bowl is intricately decorated with chrysanthemums, peonies, and other flowers. The back of the dish has a red stamp and three bands of flowers. It measures 13" diameter. Republic period mid 20th century.
