Extremely beautiful Chinese scroll by artist Yuan Feng Zhau of a robed scholar seated in a grassy field next to a flat boulder, studying. The rising moon can be seen in the background, hanging above a small cliff with branches with beautiful blossoming flowers curled around it. Wonderful hand-carving from teak wood depicting Ganesha, the Hindu god of beginnings. He is easily identifiable by his elephant's head and four arms, two of which are shown holding his own broken tusks, and one of which is grasping his nose. He is associated with wealth and prosperity and is commonly portrayed seated upon bales of rice surrounded by mice, which symbolize plentiful food. He wears pink and light yellow robes with flower patterns, has a lotus flower creeping down his left breast, is holding prayer beads, and has five happy children climbing on him. 20th century Size: 9" tall, 8" wide

Extremely detailed pair of bronze statues of guardians to the Buddha called Niō or Kongōrikishi. While Buddhism usually promotes pacifism, the Nio guardians are said to have justified the use of physical confrontation to fight back against evil. Nio are typically placed on either side of a temple door. One statue, named Misshaku Kongo or Agyo, has an open mouth to represent the first sound in the Sanskrit language "a", symbolizing birth and overt violence...

Small Japanese vanity tansu with seven drawers and two sliding doors, the front done in a variety of hardwoods, panels in gorgeous dark Jichimu (chickenwing wood) framed in rosewood, another set of sliding doors done in Keyaki wood, with brass handles and a beautiful lacquered black interior. Chinese monochrome gourd-shaped vase, made of glazed raspberry porcelain. The vase could be considered an item of good fortune, as gourds symbolize luck and fertility in Chinese culture. Qianlong mark on bottom, 20th century. Size: 8.5" tall, 4" wide

Southeast Asian brass bowl with copper and silver overlay, most likely used in a ritualistic manner. It has round, copper accents going around the top and bottom of the bowl, as well as geometric shape allover design. The image of a silver, multi-armed figure holding a serpent also appears going around the bowl, possibly some kind of deity, some have been defaced. Early 20th century Size: 2.5" tall, 4" wide

Beautiful bronze offering chalice from India with one large peacock surrounded by four smaller peacocks, bowing their heads in worship to the central bird.
