Japanese contemporary ceramic vase for ikebana, or flower arrangements. It has a very interesting, gritty textural surface and color scheme of blues, purples, and brownish-greens. The interior of the vase is slightly ribbed with vertical lines going down its sides, with a yellow/brown/green and blue glaze. Signature on bottom. Japanese 4-panel byobu folding screen, with a shochikubai or "Three Friends of Winter" motif (plum, pine, and bamboo), the image of a pheasant seated upon a jagged rock formation, with a small singing bird on the twisting trunk of the plum tree. The image was taken directly from a commemorative stamp which is affixed to the corner of the frame.

A finely done Japanese bamboo basket used as a flower container made by the second Shochikusai. The handle is done in a way as if the vine appears to grow out from the basket and fine strips of bamboo are woven throughout the vase. Studied at the Tokyo school of Fine Arts, where he graduated at the Oil Painting Section in 1938. Original shin-hanga woodblock print titled "Sacred Grove" by artist Tōshi Yoshida (1911-1995). It is a nature scene showing a red temple with golden doors and roof, partially obscured by trees. The forest floor is mossy and only a small bit of the sky peeks through the treetops. The print is framed behind glass with a large wooden border. The photo shows reflection on the glass but the print is perfect.

An amazing wood sculpture of a standing lady looking at a mirror while fixing her hair. Sculpture was done by Owa Sakunai (1894- active 1987) originally Sakunai was a farmer in Nagano and did sculpture as a hobby. Sakunai received the opportunity to study at the Academie Julian when he was 65 years old. After his study in France, he submitted many of his works to the Nihon Bijutsu-in exhibition.
