The carving is in perfect condition with traces of original blue pigment- please note the delicacy in which the bird’s legs were carved as well as the bare trees beneath the mountains and bracken ferns at the bottom of the foothill (if you use your imagination they look like high rise apartments). Nice old Tibetan or Baotou saddle carpet, with floral medallions and scroll pattern. There are some repairs and restorations which I have highlighted in enlargement two. Fine Ming Dynasty “sancai” pottery bed, in pristine condition, with subtle but discernable paraffin patina, consistent with an “of the period” piece. This has simple classic lines emblematic of Ming furniture. There are 4 holes in the floor of the bed originally intended to support a cloth canopy. Widths: 32cm/12.5in x 19.8cm/7.9in and height: 17cm/6.9in.

The cabinet is dark brown lacquer possibly over-painted. There are mother of pearl inlay of very old Chinese calligraphy characters on the doors and drawer front... with no translation available. There is a copper/bronze decorative latch on the cabinet doors.

An example of Taiwan country furniture, this Chinese antique wood trunk sits on a custom-made stand and is finely decorated in panels of black ink painted flowers. It was purchased in Peitou, Taiwan in 1987. It was refinished at that time and the custom stand was made for it. The dealer in Taiwan dated the trunk to circa 1920 and described the wood as machilus. When the lid is opened, the interior is very fragrant. On the stand, the trunk measures 15” high x 25” long x 17” deep...
The padlock is made of thick bronze, solid construction, the partitions are thick. There is a secret system to clear the keyhole which is hidden. You can see in the photos the explanation of the system. The bronze has an excellent centuries-old patina and the object is discreetly decorated with chiselling at the ends. The rivets are in the shape of flowers. This padlock is simple but of good quality. The key is lost, but this type of key is technically easy to make.

Ca. late 1800's to early 1900's, 9 3/4" high, 4 1/2" wide-top, 8 1/2" wide-bottom, bold thick Elmwood grains are noticeable, merchants carry this type of stool with graduated drawers with Brass Teardrop pulls for storing necessary items. The condition is original, no damages, shows old patina and age.

A removable Chinese travel hat stand. Cut in the shape of two interlocking Lingzhi. Carved in a beautiful hardwood with a very fine grain. Good cabinetwork finish. Simple object but very elegant and rare. Beautiful antique patina of the wood. Difficult to date exactly in the Qing period.

Chinese pair large of 2 tiered cabinets. Made all of solid hardwood and carved with a dynamic scenes of 5 clawed dragons in swirling mist. The fronts and sides of the cabinets are completely covered in high relief carvings. On each cabinet, there are sixteen dragons carved on the front and 6 dragons on the sides.

Chinese late Qing to early Republic period rosewood multi-tiered display stand carved with bamboo-form supports holding seven shelves for displaying objects. An antique Chinese wedding wine table made entirely of Nan-mu wood. Featuring the Ming dynasty style double interlocking rings of marriage surrounding the sides of the table. Supported on the underside by inner humpback stretchers. Clear lacquer finish was used to showcase the beautiful grain of the wood while the legs and sides were carved to look like bamboo.
This is an elegant functional piece that would work well in a contemporary setting as a very nice side table.

A very large and rare unique lacquer panel screen with a variety of stone carvings of Quanyin and Her Disciples. The carved gold leaf panels most likely depict the life of the owner. DESCRIPTION: A colorfully painted Tibetan chest with four side drawers having leather strap pulls (two drawers on each side). The chest is painted with green floral panels having red floral borders and is supported by short legs. A carved key fret pattern decorates the neck just below the top. Dating from the 19th C, this chest is in good condition with very minor scuffs to paint. DIMENSIONS: 33” high x 28.5” wide x 18”deep.

The Ming dynasty tradition of mortise and tenon joinery can be seen and experienced in this later Ming form day bed. The Zitan bed platform rests soundly on all four inverted horse hoof legs. DESCRIPTION: A rare and beautiful Chinese daybed or opium bed (also referred to as a lady's couch bed, lohan, or "ta" bed), the black lacquered wood back and side panels shaped as an unfurled scroll with elaborate decorations including figural scenes, animals, flowers and birds, Chinese poetry and pierced gilt carvings. These surround a rectangular support frame topped with a woven mat seat. Below the seat an elaborately carved skirt stretches between thick, boldly carved legs.

A set of four vary rare blackwood Hungmu lady's side chairs. The chairs match as a pair except for the back panels. Two have a square and two have a circle. This most likely had some meaning for the owner.

A very rare pair of ironwood chairs also know as Tieli mu. Ironwood has been used with huanghuali items since the Ming Dynasty. In all the years that I have been collecting Chinese furniture, this is the only pair of ironwood chairs I have come across. Ironwood is usually been confused with jichimu. A very rare round tea stand made of huanghuali with an insert burl wood top by a round stretcher and the splay legs ended in "Lin Zi" head feet.

A very rare Chinese veneer huanghuali cabinet with the original marble inserts. The back of the cabinet still has the original fiber coating that was used during the Ming and early Ching Dynasties. This cabinet was most likely made during the transitional period from Ming to Ching.
