This very nice carved hard stone brush rest is a mid or late 19th century product. It is 6” long, 2 3/8” high and 1 ¼” thick. It depicts a reclining ewe facing her young kid; both of them are holding a branch of LingZhi (靈芝) in their mouths. It is very well carved and designed. It is in great condition.
DESCRIPTION: A good Chinese scholar’s brushpot, carved in deep relief with a continuous mountain landscape scene framed by gnarled pine trees and depicting two groups of scholars, some examining a scroll and others in a boat. The base and rim are encased in hardwood and the pot is engraved with a two line inscription. Very good condition, latter Qing Dynasty, 19th to early 20th C. DIMENSIONS: 6 ½” high (16.5 cm) x 6” diameter (15.2 cm).
Cast bronze tripod, representing three dragon heads that hold their feet in their mouths. In the center a small container. It could be a censer. Maybe a candlestick. The style of the dragons with these long ears and the unicorn seem to us from the Yuan period or the beginning of the Ming. The excellent multi-centenary old patina would confirm such an ancient time. I don't think anything is missing in the center, because there are no signs of wear.

Qing Dynasty glass brushrest in the form of a mountain. Late 19th or early 20th century. Appears like an example of "realglar". Undamaged although casting lines related to its production are visible as demonstrated in the photos. 17 cm Long and 6 cm high.
19th century (late Qing Dynasty - 1890s to 1911) unusual Chinese scholar’s rock in a form of a large natural amber nugget. The piece is true Baltic amber, large for amber as material, can be viewed from 2 sides, and conveys a very good feeling of a lonely mountain with its surface weathered by years of exposure to wind and water. Wonderful internal energy in the piece produced by combination of shape, texture and color of the material...
With a very nice contiuous river landscape scene.
Probably mid Qing Dynasty, maybe the signature to the back of the piece gives a more pecise result concerning the dating of the piece.

Condition : Not artifically polished like often seen on Bamboo brush pots.
Nice, naturally grown patina. Some old superficial dry - cracks. Definitely not a single of these cracks extens until the inside of the bamboo body.

An antique statue of the lucky goddess He Xiangu holding a lotus, carved from a large bamboo piece with nice patina. One of the eight immortals of the Chinese Taoist pantheon.
