A pair of blue and white Hirado oil jars or bottles of squat shape, Meiji period, c 1900. Molded decoration of Paulownia leaves in reserves and an under-glaze blue diaper (grid) pattern. One with a cork stopper crowned by a small silver bird. Height: "2 ¼ /6 cm, diameter: "3 ¾ / 9 cm. Condition: small glaze crack near the mouth to one jar, otherwise fine.

Pair Japanese porcelain vases decorated in various shades of blue under glaze to show a view of Mount Fuji. On the bottom of both vases is the Fukagawa factory mark, and the vases dates to the early 20th Century. Each vase measures 10" high x 7 1/2" in diameter. An exquisite slightly fluted porcelain bowl with a dragon parading though tendrils of cloud in raised relief by Mokusen enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 18.3 cm (7 inches) diameter, 9cm tall (3-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition. Mokusen was a prolific porcelain artist in Kyoto well known for his tea ware.

Manufactured specifically for export to Europe sometime during the first half of the 18th century. The cutout, rather small in this case, is to allow the bowl to fit comfortably under the chin when the barber is wielding the razor. Barbers at that time also provided a service to the medical profession by bleeding patients and these bowls are sometimes called 'Bleeding Bowls'...

An exceptionally fine porcelain bowl made for presentation, kenjo-te. The centre of the dish is decorated with an unusual version of a Karashishi which would seem to be floating upon a feather set against a net like blue ground which has been produced using the shiranaku technique. It is strikingly similar to the karashishi and feather compositions that appear on Chinese porcelain of the Wanli era...

Japanese blue and white glazed Imari plate with scrolling vine motif and sho-chiku-bai (three friends of winter: plum, pine, and bamboo) motif, signed with 4 characters on back, one very minor crack near at rim otherwise great condition, Edo Period (18th century). 11 1/4" wide x 2" high.

This late19th Century Japanese Imari (Aka-e) vase is 7 ½” high and 3 ¾” at its widest part. It depicts cherry blossoms and orchids in two sections, fruit (peach or persimmon) and some unknown flowers are painted on the rest of body. There are three small butterflies painted on the rim. Aside from a few blisters and smudged color due to firing, it is in excellent condition.

A beautiful and entirely hand painted mille fleur (Thousand flower) Japanese satsuma bowl of exceptional quality and brightly painted flowers, no two bowls were exactly alike, each is an individual work of art. The bowl was produced by the Kushida company in the very early Tashio period, pre-1920. Japanese Imari Porcelain covered Serving Bowl, Ca. Meiji Period, from 1868-1912, 5 3/4" high, 9 3/4" diameter-widest measurement, with typical overglaze decoration of red double fish, flying Phoenix Bird on top of various shape and design of underglaze blue decoration and highlighted in gold. Underglaze blue mark on the bottom, there are small few oxidized kiln dots inside the bowl, no damages.

Japanese Imari Porcelain Black Ship and Namban design Bowl and Cover, 3 1/4" high & 5 1/8" diameter-with cover, 2 1/4" high & 4 3/4" diameter-bowl, later part of 1800's Meiji period, with overglaze decoration of six(6) Dutchmen and black ship in iron red background, highlighted in gold. Underglaze blue decoration of diaper pattern borders inside the bowl and under the lid, floral decoration on the bottom and the cover. The condition is good, no damage or restoration.

A Fukagawa porcelain 11 3/4 inch long covered tureen. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration including butterflys inside the cover. Mt. Fuji mark inside the foot ring and Mt Fuji with Fukagawa Sei inside the cover. A Japanese porcelain tureen that is decorated with the various Imari colors and motifs. The brocade exterior design also features large flying cranes, scenes of ladies dancing, and the Chinese mark for longevity on the top to the lid.. The interior of the lid and bowl each show a lovely large basket full of persimmons. The serving bowl with lid measures about 6 1/2" high x 10 1/4" in diameter, and dates to the 19th Century. An 18th Century Japanese porcelain scalloped serving bowl, with lid, decorated with the Imari colors of red, blue, white, cream, and gold. The tureen measures about 9 1/4" long x 6 1/2" wide x 7" tall. The Shippo design family crest has been applied in gold on the blue panels. The finial is modeled as a sixteen pedal chrysanthemum blossom. The condition is excellent, with some wear to gold highlights. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

Antique 19th century Meiji period Japanese Kutani porcelain incense burner Koro and cover, of compressed cylindrical body, with upright handles, resting on three feet, modeled in the form of stylised elephant heads. The front side decorated with delicately hand painted coloured enamel and gold, with a cartouche depicting the Japanese goddess of mercy, Kannon Bosatsu, amongst clouds flanked by cranes, the rear decorated with a cartouche enclosing birds in a flowering garden...

This is a very old Japanese Imari Plate. The design is outstanding and the rim style is very rare. This is a piece for the collector that appreciates the finer imari pieces made at the Japanese kilns. The plate measures 9 3/4 inches across and is quite heavy. There is a signature or writing in underglaze blue that we can not make out. Condition is excellent with come minor wear.

Rare blue sharkskin porcelain tea caddy with a bird, flowers, and butterflies. The bird and butterflies are glossy and do not have the sharkskin texture giving this piece a beautiful contrast which was not an easy feat for the artist to achieve. The blue background graduates from light at the bottom to darker shade of light blue at the top. Signed and in excellent condition, it measures 6 inches tall with lid on.

A cheerful Japanese Arita "Imari" bowl with a spotted lion dog looking at a waterfall. This scene is repeated in 3 cartouches surrounding the bowl's exterior. Enameled with vivid palette of colors, it is in very good original condition. No repairs, hairline, etc. Spurious Chinese mark on bottom reads "Greatest Ming Chenghua Make". Measures 7.75 Inches in diameter by 3.75" high.

An impressive large shallow dish of foliate form decorated with a pair of auspicious Hoo birds with Kiri (Pawlonia) painted principally in underglaze blue which trail over the rim on to the reverse of the dish; an “over the wall pattern”...

Late 19th century Nabeshina porcelain portrayal of Mt Fuji against a celadon ground. This signed 7" plate is in very good condition with only minor surface scratches from use.

A set of five Japanese porcelain bowls of tapering square form, the corners with shallow concave chamfers, decorated with alternating panels of flowers and Ho-0 birds.

Each base has a ‘Fuki Choshun’ four-character mark in underglaze blue.

The design arranged in fuyo-de Kraak style with a border of six sectional compartments each containing a panels of “Persian flowers”, precious objects, and Chinese figures standing upon a bridge in a stylised landscape. The central mikomi painted with rocks, viewing stones, and foliage and Banana plantain, basho, flanking a pair of small “Deshima style” figures, standing on a podium...

Large Japanese Kutani serving bowl featuring 2 separate scenes. In very good antique condition, there is some minor fritting around the outer edge of the rim. This rare Japanese bowl measures 10 inches in diameter and about 3.25" high. Dates late Edo, Circa 1800.

A porcelain bowl made by Mokusen of Kyoto decorated in blue with waterbirds taking flight from a reed-dotted shore followed by a four character verse by Oyabu Shunko enclosed in the original wooden box signed by both artists dating from the early 20th century. An exceptionally small Japanese tea or wine bowl and saucer, Edo period c 1710. Blood and milk iron red and gilt decoration of butterflies, flowers and swirls. Height of cup 1 ¼ " / 3.2 cm Diameter 2 ¼ "/ 5.5 cm, of saucer 3 ½ "/ 8.8 cm. Condition: repair to the saucer, the cup with a nick to the inner side of the foot rim (c.f. pics).

Square dish with straight rims, with elegant indentation on each corner. In the center two cranes (or similar birds) walking on rocks underneath a pine tree near the sea. On the inside of the rims a continuous border of heart-shaped flowers, on the outside a border with diamond pattern, broken by one cartouche on each side, containing a house. The top of the rim decorated with a karakusa-border.

A very rare and fine Japanese Satsuma water dropper in the form of a Kyoto style saki pot. Delicately painted with figures and flowers, it is supported on three tiny feet and signed on bottom. In excellent condition, this treasure measures a mere 2 5/8 in diameter and about 1.25" high. Dates Meiji Period, 1868-1912.
