This late 19th or early 20th century lacquered bronze statue of a boy is 8 ¾ inches high, 4 inches wide and 2 ½ inches thick. It has a signature “Mantoshi” on the back. Aside from some wear due to its age, it is in good condition.

Hard to find, 19th Japanese articulated spiny lobster. Loss case method of solid copper. Each piece is meticulously cast and fitted with all 10 legs and long antenna. Fully articulated and movable, the lobster if fully splayed for viewing on a complex mounted stand.

Musha Ningyo of Minamoto no Yoshitsune dressed for the Imperial Court. He is wearing a fantastic brocade robe and a spectacular court hat. This wonderful rare example of high quality has a great presence, sumptuous brocades, gold lacquered armor, and many other fine details. His face is gorgeously and masterfully carved with finely burnished gofun (white clam shell lacquer). An extraordinary example. Height: 22.5 inches, 57 cm.

This is a superior Takeda ningyo (doll), an old Japanese theater doll which was most likely modeled after the character, Teiseiko from “Kokusenya-ya-Gassen.” It was a popular theater play in 18th to 19th century Japan. The setting of the play is during mid 17th century China towards the end of the Ming Dynasty. Teiseiko (also known as Watonai) was fighting the battle for the old dynasty...

Antique Japanese bronze vase with a wood-like pattern, large areas of deep red pigment, and a stout mouth with inner ridges. Taisho period (1912-1925) Size: 11.5" height, 9" width

The mask is of dark brown russet lacquer finish and the interior is smoothed lacquered red. The high jaw his two protrusion hooks for strapping the cords, underneath the chin is a vent hole. The mask is fitted with yodare kare of three row of false scale lace and blue silk.

19th Century Edo Period

A splendid and unusually large tetsubin decorated with geometric patterns with peonies and butterflies set within a frame. This piece is a collaboration of two major artists. The body has a seal by the kama-shi or tea kettle maker, Okuni Jurou, and the lid is signed by Kinryudo. Okuni Jurou, along with his father Okuni Toubei were famous for their skill and artistry during the Meiji and Taisho Periods. Condition is original and excellent. Size: Diameter 9.5" Height 14"

Antique Japanese extremely fine articulated dragon, made of individually cast and incised segments of iron, shakudo eyes, every piece moves, very realistic rendering of a small dragon, body swivels and twists, head stays up on its own accord, so well executed it seems living, beautiful condition. With original tomobako signed, "property of (Emperor) Tsuchimikado, dated Tenai Geddei 31, c. 1781. Attributed to Myochin the famous armer maker...

A set of Japanese bira-bira kanzashi (hair ornament) with silver and gold plated peonies, foliage, coral beads and dangling chains. Meiji period. This set has been recently cleaned by a jeweler. Kanzashi 8 1/4" long, chains 4" long.

Bronze Turtle Okimono Signed, Meiji Period (1868-1912)

It is 1 inches (2.6 cm) tall by 3.3 inches (8.5 cm) in length by 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide.

It is in good condition with no repairs, dents, or cracks, except missing 2 nails and a very small chip at the tip of his tail (as seen in the photos).

Fine Meiji Period (circa 1870) Bunraku Puppet of a Sambaso Dancer. This rare puppet is operated by three Puppet Masters, who make it come to life to present a magical theatrical experience. He is carved of wood and covered with Gofun. He wears a rich blue and red robe with white under robe, and his head is adorned with a gold and black velvet hat. An embroidery Crane graces his back. The bells on his feet sound when he dances. 35 inches (89cm) height.

Incredibly charming Japanese bronze incenser in the form of a floppy eared dog, with a curly tail and and a real bell handing off of his neck. A pierced lid comes off of his back to place incense inside, which would then pillow forth from the mouth. Original natural patina from antiquity. Early Edo period (1615-1868) Size: 7" H x 7" L x 2.5" W

This very fine Late 18th Century Ningyo was made for the Daimyo Class. These rare pieces are highly regarded in Japan. This is an unusually large Musha- Ningyo of the hero Kato Kiyomasa, who accompanied Hideyoshi on his campaign against Korea. He was famous for his bravery. He has a great face of carved wood and finely burnished Gofun, and is dressed in the sumptuous textiles of a rich green velvet coat with gold dragons...

This wonderful example of high quality has an extraordinary presence, sumptuous brocades, gold lacquered armor, a spectacular helmet, and many other fine details. His face is gorgeously and masterfully carved with finely burnished gofun. Figure height: 20 inches (51cm), with arrows: 25 inches (63.5 cm). Excellent Condition.

This realistically cast Meiji period bronze vase is 13 1/4 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter at its widest point. It depicts an eagle resting on an old tree. There is a stamped maker¡¯s mark on the bottom which reads ¡°Hidemitsu¡±. The owner purchased this piece from Sotheby¡¯s in the early seventy¡¯s. It is in excellent condition.

Heavy, pure silver box with gold, silver, and copper inlaid bronze plaque inset in lid. The bronze plaque depicts a scene of dragonflies amidst autumn grasses. The grass is both incised and raised. The seeds are all inlaid gold. The dragonflies are raised above the surface with silver wings and copper bodies and the smallest dragonfly is inlaid with silver and copper. The sides of the box are incised with floral medallions and the base is raised on four solid silver feet...

Realistically cast as a walking elephant, its head and trunk raised high. Its teeth are made of ivory. Meiji period. It is in great condition. H: 8 ½ inches, L: 10 inches, W: 4 ½ inches
