Khmer Empire, modern-day Cambodia, Angkor period ca. 1000 AD.

Exceptional Khmer dagger with the large sculptural bronze hilt shaped as Uma / Parvati with hands folded in prayer arising from a flower. She is ornamented in fine jewelry, including a collar necklace, bracelets armbands, earrings, and an ornate diadem. The finally cast details of the face, clothing and jewelry are all indicative of the Angkor period. Uma was a favored goddess in Khmer Angkor.

A large and very beautiful 18th Century Shan State Brass Buddha subduing Mara. This type of Buddha was mostly made of wood, lacquer and papier maché, brass is indeed very seldomly found, thus rare. Antique, Southeast Asian, celadon crackle glazed ceramic large figural jar on a circular socle base. The jar has a baluster body, splayed foot, and a short, everted neck. The shoulder of the jar is decorated with five guardian figures, each mounted on an elephant. The figures are finely hand-sculpted in high relief and wear top spiky headdresses, necklaces, and bracelets. They have their hands folded in a prayer gesture.

CONDITION: It is in good condition, with no cracks or repairs, except...

Very rare complete skull of an orang-outang, decorated with carved typical geometric designs and with the threatening face of a god or a genie on the forehead. The skull has kept its lower jaw which is attached to it with a sliced bamboo tie. The age patina is beautiful. Indonesia, Borneo Island, Dayak Peoples. Height: around 6 1/2" (about 16,5 cm). Antique Tibetan Buddhist ritualistic bone flute, or kangling. The kangling produces a wailing sound, meant to create a mystical atmosphere during tantric rituals. It is played as a gesture of fearlessness and as a way of cutting off the ego. With silver mounts intricately decorated with floral motifs and inlaid with coral. A rare Siam 18th. century Ayutthaya style gilt bronze Buddha sits with legs crossed, right hand in Abhaya Mudra, the energy of no fear gesture, left hand in the mudra of meditation.
