This is an Early 19th Century, excellently hand-carved Japanese Netsuke depicting Tengu, the legendary winged creature that has both human and bird-like characteristics. This is a Late 18th Century, most likely Osaka School, excellently carved netsuke of a resting stag, head turned back, eyes inlaid in black horn, with a dapple cloth, and good hair work. Unsigned. It measures 2.05 inches (5.2cm) wide, and 0.83 inches (2.1cm) tall.

Japanese keyaki and persimmon wood choba tansu, beautiful keyaki grain on front with a frame that is edged in persimmon wood, there is a compartment with sliding panels made of solid burl wood with a stepped shelf on the interior, the safe box has a key and two small interior drawers also with keyaki wood fronts, inside the safe box is a very hidden secret compartment (detail shows writing on hidden panel door). Meiji Period.

Rare Japanese keyaki wood choba tansu with 15 exterior drawers (3 interior drawers) and a locking bar, keyaki (elm) wood front and frame with dramatic grain and lacquer finish, elaborate iron metal wood including moko shaped drawer pulls, locking bar has iron work with bamboo motif, the safe box has a key and the three small drawers on the inside are made all of kiri wood with handles to match the front exterior, Edo Period, Makuni area.

A good pair of dragon menuki in nicely detailed patinated shakudo alloy and with gilt features. Late Edo period. Good condition but with glue adhering mostly to the back. Each little more than 1 5/8 inches (4.13 cm) long.
This is a beautiful wire and wireless Japanese cloisonne vase. Though it is not signed, it was made by Gonda Hirosuke during the Meiji Era, circa 1910. Other identical pieces exist that are signed Gonda.
Very few of these wireless fish vases were made by Gonda. The vase is in excellent condition and has silver rims. It was created before Japan began stamping rims with the "jun gin' silver mark in the early 1900's. It stands 7 inches tall and is 7 inches wide.

Toujin-bue (Chinese flute) flat shaped tea bowl made of coarse, unfined clay with a high content of iron oxide. The body shows the tracks of the fingers when it was thrown on the Korean kick-wheel. The rim is a little uneven (intentionally). The unglazed foot ring was executed in the Korean bamboo node style...
Diameter approximately 31 cm. Little bit repaired at the rim. Soft green glazed. In good condition.
Up for sale is an antique Chinese silk civil rank badge, late1800's, executed in KESI /Kossu weaving, with a mandarin duck, bats, peonies, seawaves, sun disc, cloud patterns, buddhist / Taolist auspicious symbols against a brown silk ground; was meat to be worn on the back of a Mandarin official's surcoat; Backed with light blue silk lining.

Small altar ("zushi" in Japanese) made of wood, lacquered in black outside, gilt inside. The locking system as well as the hinges are made of beautifully decorated bronze. The altar contains a gilt wood statue of Buddha sitting cross-legged in meditation posture on an elevated throne backed by an aureola. Japan, 19th century. Total height: 8" (20,5 cm). Flaked lacquer at the base, otherwise very good condition.
Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style (note the trimmed walls) make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls.
The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured under which a decoration of a willow tree (yanagi) and a fence have been applied in iron oxide (oni ita). Just the foot ring and its immediate surrounding was left unglazed...
This very well carved ivory horse is an early 20th century product. It depicts the reclining horse with turquoise and coral on its saddle and blanket. It is 7” long, 2 ½” wide and 3 3/8” high. Aside from two hair line cracks on the bottom due to its age, it is in great condition.
