Japanese antique wonderful set of six puppet figures, known as oshi-e ningyo. The set includes a beautiful maiden, a samurai, a female attendant, a male official, Ebisu and Daikoku, figures are made of very thinly shaved layers of wood and paper with silk clothing and painted details, each figure is held by a stick and fitted with a stand (made later), the oshi-e ningyo were often made by households in Northeastern Japan and were made to celebrate girls day or as a prayer for happiness...

Antique pair of dramatic bronze censers, each with a warrior seated on top, the surface of each censer is decorated all over with ornate damascene (metal inlay) patterns, standing on four feet on stand inlaid with dragon, each leg is inlaid with the face of an oni (demon protector), each warrior sits on a rocky outcropping with hidden holes to allow incense smoke to escape dramatically around the figure, Meiji Period...

This unusual jade (jadeite) pendant is 2 ¼” long, 2” wide (measured from the widest part) and 5/8” thick (measured from the thickest part). It is a late 19th or early 20th century product. It is carved on both sides as two double gourds (葫蘆) resting against each other. A twisted RuYi (如意) scepter with LingZhi (靈芝) ends and a branch of flower blossom are leaning over them. A small crane is on the top of one of the gourds...

This jade (jadeite) pendant is 2 ¼” long, 1 7/8” wide and 3/8” thick. It is an early 20th century product. It is carved on both sides as a fish with lotus leaf, pod and some small flowers. It has a very nice translucent body and green spots. It is in great condition.

Chinese Blue and White Stemcup of small size and good colour. Decorated with flowering sprays. Kangxi C1700. Height 6.3cm. Diameter 6.1cm. Condition: a hairline crack 1.5cm from rim (image 9), no other damage.

The lid with a sage or immortal holding a book, the handles in the shape of mythical animals, the body decorated with dragons and clouds, the censer is carried by three kneeling boys. This rectangular grayish jade (nephrite) plaque is 1 ¾” long, 2 3/4” wide and 3/16” thick. It is a late 19th century product. It is carved as a dragon in the center, two flower blossoms and two leaves are on the four corners and a curly pattern swirls around the dragon. Though it is a thin piece, it was carved very skillfully and carefully into a two layered object. Aside from a tiny chip on one side, it is in great condition.

A Korean Fine Blue and White Han River Painted Water Dropper-19th C. : Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century The rectangular slab-sided water dropper set on four raised feet, decorated in underglaze blue and white with a Han River scene, the sides with abstract design beneath a clear white glaze. Kiln grit on the base. It’s small chips repaired on edges. Measurements; 7.5cm x 4cm h.

A Korean Rare Early Punchon Stoneware Rice-Bail Shape Jar: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 15th century The Punchong jar brushed white slip and then covered with a clear, greenish celadon glaze over all surfaces, its brush marks appears through a greenish glaze. It’s in fine condition except 2 part repairs on the rim and burial ruat stains. Measurements: 23cm x 12.2cm H.

This shallow dish is well-carved translucent green jade with bands of blackish coloring with speckles of gray and white. Two handles carved as butterflies extend from the rim. It is evenly carved inside and out with the base raised on a low footring, also very well-carved. The overall pattern in the jade suggests a landscape or cloud effect. A section of the well was broken and restuck in the past, and is reflected in the price. Except for the break, the condition is good...

Large head of Buddha, with a nicely rendered face, its slight smile and lowered eyes reflecting a profound inner serenity. Dry lacquer, with remnants of the original gilding. Burma,early 19th century, maybe earlier. Height: 13" (33 cm). The head is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Very good condition. This late Meiji white molded ceramic netsuke is 1 5/8” long, 1” high and 1 ¼” wide. It depicts a reclining Shi Shi (lion) with its mouth wide open and a loose ball inside. Aside from some tiny black spots due to the firing, it is in very good condition.

This late 19th century Chinese jade (nephrite) carving of a reclining camel and foreign grooms is 2 ¾” high, 4 ¼” long and 2” thick. It depicts a reclining camel turning its head to the three grooms; one is climbing on the camel’s hump while the other two are leaning on its side. It is in great condition.

This carved hardwood cup is 5” high, 4 ½” wide, 3 3/4” thick (both measured from the top). It is an early 20th century product. It depicts three sages surrounded by a river scene. Two sages and their young servant are on a boat; one sage is standing on the river bank. A huge rock, an old pine tree and some unknown trees make the scene very peaceful. Aside from a few small crack lines due to the age of the wood, it is in great condition.

This rectangular jade (nephrite) pendant (or plaque) is 3 ¼” long, 2” wide and 3/16” thick. It is an early 20th century product. It is carved on both sides as a stylized dragon surrounded by Ling Zhi (lucky mushroom). Aside from a small chip (less than 1/8” long) on the side, it is in good condition.

Chinese Blanc De Chine Libation Cup of rhinoceros horn form. With applied decoration on one side, of a tiger below a dragon and prunus, the other side with a deer below a stork and pine. A fine antique Chinese carved zitan wood Buddha or Bodhisattva Monk figure. Exquisite artistic finely carved details from one solid piece of Zitan wood the hardest of all woods very rare. Carved features as in the image of a carved bamboo stock Chinese date mark on reverse. Measuring 18.5 inches tall or 47 cm. A museum quality piece.

This interesting and finely carved Japanese ivory okimono is a mid-19th century product. It is 6” high, 2” wide and 1” thick. It depicts one adult and one youngster engaged in folk dancing. The man is wearing a traditional hat called “Kazaori Eboshi.” He has raised his two arms up and is holding drum mallets. The boy is holding a paper fan. The artist’s signature “Yoshiaki” is on the base...

A good Song Yuan longquan celadon large bowl, rounded side with deep center and glazed base, bowl decorated with 35 carved raising lotus petal motif at the exterior, covered with good green glaze.

A thinly potted bowl with a carved decoration and glazed with an nice pale blue Qingbai glaze. Northern Song Dynasty ( 1127 - 1279 ) There is an old Chinese inscription to the unglazed base. A large, very well and thinly potted bowl. The exterior of the steep rounded sides finely incised with two striding five-clawed dragons in mutual pursuit of flaming pearls, and enamelled in yellow, aubergine, black and shades of green with three different kind of large fruit branches...

Up for sale is a red silk Chinese dragon robe embroidered with ten 5-claw dragons chasing flaming pearl, clouds, sea waves, cranes and bats, and other Buddhist auspicious objects executed in forbidden stitch, long & wide sleeves; backed with red silk lining; excellent condition, bright red silk ground - Some orange color from pictures is actually the effect of flash light.

A medium sized Hopi Kachina doll carved by Wilson Tewaquaptewa circa 1930. Tewaquaptewa (1871-1960) was the last chief of Old Oraibi. He produced Kachina dolls which are a combination of many dolls and figments of his own imagination. He believed that you didn't carve actual Kachinas for the tourist market. His dolls are usually monochromatic in color (brown, ochre and white and black). His use of symbols, painted on the case mask, seems to be arbitrary. DIMENSIONS: 7" tall.

A medium sized carved wood Hopi Kachina doll - Hornet Kachina (Tatangaya) circa 1930. Description of Tatangaya from Colton: "Two types...At Second and Third Mesas he wears a green case mask with datura flower ears. Stripes of all colors surround the face. Cloth ruff, breech clout, and green moccasins. Yellow and red body paint. The Hornet Kachina appears in groups or singly in Mixed Kachina Dance, and the Pamuya. He is said to be of Zuni origin." DIMENSIONS: 7" tall.

A simple utilitarian tool often used by Japanese carpenters and woodworkers known as a sumitsubo or an ink pot used to measure and portion pieces of wood. A small hardwood carving of lotus leaves with small frogs and fish set between the curled and the underside sections of the leaves. Sourced from an old estate, this pair of lotus shoes came with a hand written tag/label sewn to the back of one heel and a red paper the shape of the inner sole place inside on of the shoes. The paper is at the point flaking and disintegrating and the writing is in old Chinese and no longer readable. Because of the "tag and label, I suspect that these shoes were presented as a "gift" to a Western missionary, teacher or friend...

A resplendent Japanese cloisonne vase decorated with motif of a plant often seen during the autumn in Japan. The Japanese name is Hozuki, while in English it is known as either Japanese Lantern or Winter Cherry. The motif symbolize the height of autumn and the plant is often used in flower arrangements. Japanese indigo dyed sakiori hanten (work coat), woven with different hues of indigo blue, neck lined with black woven cotton, circa 1920. Size: 43 1/2" high x 49 1/2" wide

This incense burner is cast bronze in a bombe form, having a brownish patina with small patches of verdigris. The base is caste with a six-character Xuande mark (though not of the period). The interior shows evidence of long use and has some areas of verdigris. It is set on a flaring footring which echoes its rather thick flaring lip. There is evidence of wear and use and some tiny nicks to one handle. It is in generally good condition. Purchased in London in 1978.
