A very large mask of heavily carved wood covered in black lacquer with golden eyes dating from the mid Edo period (18th century). There are minor losses to the lacquer on the cheeks and along the edges typical of age. It is 37.5 x 30 cm (14-1/2 x 12 inches) and is in overall fine condition.

Antique Japanese noh theatre mask of the character Ko-Omote, a youthful girl. Very unusual that this mask is made of ceramic instead of carved from wood. Beautifully painted with red lips and blackened teeth, joyful eyes and dark hair with four loose strands, very important defining characteristics to tell each mask apart. A Japanese circular hand mirror decorated with a stylised representation of Penglai, Horai, island the principal elements of which are a pair of small birds in flight, stylised rocks with pine branches above stylised waves and a central Turtle, kame, form boss. The mirror is probably late Kamakura or Nambokucho in date, first half of the fourteenth century.

An exceptionally detailed and fine style large bronze figure of pregnant woman, Eastern Java, Majapahit Empire, c. 13th.-15th. century AD.
The figure probably representing a Hindu female deity; she is firmly pressing her right breat and holding a sacrificial bowl in her left hand. A large deep bowl with bulls eye base decorated with a Kraak fuyo-de style pattern to the interior and exterior with the central mikomi decorated within a classic Chinese landscape with the figure of the Chinese poet Lin Bu contemplating a small gnarled tree, presumably a Mountain plum, upon a rocky outcrop. Alternatively the figure may represent Li Bai, if so he is gazing at a waterfall, not incorporated in the design, lying beyond the small tree.
