The splayed foot decorated with lotus scroll, the stem with a central spherical mid section carved within two borders of lappets, the body decorated with panels of scholars and attendants within mountainous landscapes. The shoulder and cover decorated with lotus scrolls, the finial in the form of a chrysanthemum blossom. The lacquer over a metal base.

This early 20th century Chinese export lacquer cinnabar bowl is 3 ½” high and 6 ¾” in diameter. It depicts two dragons flying through the clouds chasing a flaming globe. There is an honorable Qian Long mark on the bottom. Aside from some cracks inside the bowl due to age, it is in great condition.

The slightly domed lid is carved with a garden scene consisting of pavilions and scholars in a landscape of thick foliage, trees, various rocks and a small bridge. The sides of the box are carved all around with a repeating floral design and the base is carved overall with diamond shaped florets...

It is in good condition with no chips, except small crack, re-lacquered at the inside and bottom, repaired at the inner rim and a small spot of melting at the back side of the lid (as seen in the photos).

A Chinese carved cinnabar lacquer vase (converted into a lamp) decorated with four shaped panels of scholars on a mountainous landscape, the background with scrolling floral borders and motifs. The quality of the carving is one of the best from its period (probably late 19th century) and is in excellent condition – some chips and minor hair lines. It was converted into a lamp sometime later. It works perfectly as a lamp, although there is one area taped (with black tape) on the cord...
