These two vases were mostly part of an altar set that included an incense burner and circular box, all in cast bronze and having similar Koranic inscriptions. The vases are heavily cast as are most of these types of inscribed utensils. The calligraphy is raised from the background and is framed by a lobed cartouche surrounding a ring-punched background that helps to accentuate the inscription...

Ming Dynasty, ca. 1500s

Cast with flowing robe and benevolent facial expression. Stands upon a base cast in the form of sea waves surrounded by low a fence raised upon a hexagonal plinth. Figure and base were cast separately with the figure being attached to the base with two bronze pins. The figure was originally lacquered overall then gilded. Remains of this gilt lacquer can be seen especially in the creases of the robe and the hair around the edges of the hood...

Gilded Lacquer Bronze Seated Shakyamuni, 17th Century

It is 11.25 inches (28.5 cm) tall by 8 inches (20.5 cm) wide. It weighs 6.2 lb.

It is in good condition with no cracks, except loss of lacquer, chip at one arm, manufacture defect of firing holes near the bottom, and an old repair to a chip at the back (as seen in the photos).

Very heavy pear-form bronze vase stylized after ceramic vases of the same period, probably intended as a decoration in a scholar’s studio. Cast with a graceful qilong dragon wrapped around the body and neck with its bifurcated tail terminating on the upper neck of the vase and above the dragon’s head. The dragon’s features are well defined, including the single horn on top of its head, a hairy mane and goatee, and also a prominent backbone...

Silver Repousse Censer with Dragon Ears, Figurines, and Fu Lion Finial, Circa 1920's

It is 6.25 inches (15.5 cm) tall, and 7.5 inches (19 cm) wide.

This hand made 19th century Chinese sterling silver cart is 2 ¾ inches long, 1 ¼ inches wide and 2 inches high. It depicts a man with a straw hat pulling a two wheel cart. A business man is sitting on the cart. It has “LC & CO” and “Mian An, Lian Zhang” (in Chinese) stamped on the back of the cart. It has nice patina and is in excellent condition.

The Chinese Tang Dynasty iron stele is 7 ½ inches tall and 5 ½ inches wide. A Buddhist design is on one side; calligraphy is on reverse. Most of the calligraphy has worn off, but some characters are still legible. It looks like it was made to honor one family¡¯s ancestor. There is a date to indicate it was made during second year of ¡°Zhi De¡±(757 A.D.) of the Tang Dynasty. The old coin style base (stand) is cast iron and was made to fit the stele later. It is in excellent condition...
