This pair of Chinese late Ming Dynasty (1368~1644) blue and white vases (Mei Ping) are 10 ¼” high and 5” on the widest part. Aside from some dark spots and blisters due to firing, they are in excellent condition.

These tall, slender offering jars with lids are well-potted and molded with dignitaries, dragons and horses, and covered with a thin bluish-toned clear glaze. The bluish areas are apparent where the glaze has pooled around the molded figures. The lids are likewise glazed and finished with a simple stylized swirl of clay. The figure with many fine details. A high helmet with decorations, the harness is covered with dark blue and turquoise colored glaze with lions on the shoulders and chest. He is wearing a helberd in his hand. Pigmented colors in red, white, black of which much remains.

It was preserved in perfect condition with finely spread crackles due to age.

Some burial adhesives were kept at the foot bottom.
