Statue of God Chao Kung Ming, the Military Wealth God, dressed in military garb, half sitting on a throne, his left hand holding a coin, his left foot tramping the head of a dragon, his right leg resting on a lion. Votive box open at the back and still containing a paper. Lacquered and painted wood in gold and polychrome colors. China, 18th century. Height: 8 3/4" (22,2 cm). A large and powerful polychromed wooden carving of a Chinese demonic altar guardian figure, possibly Shun-Feng Erh, dating to the 17th century. Multiple coats of polychrome confirm the piece's great age. Intact, with, most probably, a reattached break in the figure's sash, visible in the photos. A full exposition of the role played by similar figures can be found in Arts of Asia, September-October 1998, "Demonic Images on Chinese Altars." The piece stands just over 16 inches in height...
South China/North Vietnam Yao Shaman Ka Dong Deity Ritual Mask. This fine old mask would have been used in the same family for several generations to perform rituals such as those for a newborn baby and maturation. The wood for this important mask would have been taken from dep in the forest where spirits were believed to live. 14.5 inches, 37 cm.

Large and heavy Chinese antique Bronze Guanyin buddha statue, Qing dynasty, c. 18th century. Really impressing. The Guanyin buddha is sitting on a lotus base, the clothes are so graceful and elegant and the details of the figure are magificent.
Good "Xuande" mark on the back.

Statue of a Taoist deity, in formal attire, standing on a rectangular base on which a chimera or a dog is carved in relief. Two votive boxes, their lids missing, at the back. Wood, nice semi-glossy patina. China, Ming Dynasty period. Height: 12 1/2" (32 cm). The statue is mounted on a custom wood stand. Some loss at the base, chips, otherwise very good condition.
Very large Qianlong Buddha made of solid bronze, with rests of gilding and a temple lion, marked Qianlong on the back. Weight 4,4 kg. No cracks, no repairs.

Antique Chinese figure of a standing bodhisattva, most likely Avalokiteshvara since he holds a gold lotus in one hand and a gold water jar in the other. Standing on a double lotus base and on a carved hardwood stand. Flowing drapery and high chignon with gold detail. Made of silver repoussé. Provenance Estate of WM Bogdanowicz, Wisconsin.

The sculpture is of excellent quality. The Kouanyin is represented seated in a position of royal relaxation. Very heavy wood is covered with several coats of paint. The details are finely incised but are almost all covered by the paintings. The hand was made apart. The expression of the face is calm, attentive and benevolent. The movement of the fabrics is elegant.Traces of textiles.Yuan style but I am not able to certify the authenticity because there are so many copies...
